Sounds like your "speed sensor" is failing. When it fails it will cause irregular shift patterns and engine idle speeds.

Instument pannel keeps going out speedo rev counter fuel gauge

The cluster is really a computer module, so what needs is first make sure the signal for this gages are reaching the cluster if they are then the cluster needs repair, if not you may have a defective fuel level sensor and a problem with the vehicle speed sensor. Flip a coin, the sensor issues will be the most costly as the fuel tank must come out for replacement of the level sensor, that runs many hours of labor.

My jeep cuts off while driving, no shaking or stalling, just turns off. Then it will cut right back on and keep going.

Hi there,

This does sound like an electrical issue.

However, you should NEVER replace any component, until you have extracted your vehicle's OBD codes.

Do this by the following method:

Rev the car to 2500 rpm (while in Neutral or Park), then slowly reduce revs down to idle.If equipped with automatic transmission, cycle through each position (Drive, Park, etc).If equipped with air conditioning, also cycle that ON and OFF.
1 Turn engine OFF.2 Retrieve the trouble codes: turn the ignition ON-OFF, ON-OFF, and finally ON again (within 5 seconds).3 The stored 4-digit fault codes will be displayed in the odometer (speedo) display area.
Reply back with these codes and we can assist you further.

Hi, I had the same problem. For my malibu (2000) it was a faulty ignition switch. I replaced it and the instrument panel works fine.

Engine warning light , battery light, warning light , rev counter , speedo and temp gauge going on/off intermitantly and speedo not working on digital screen on ford focus can you help. the battery is new...

My 04 Ford Focus the battery light keeps coming on & going off, have fitted a new alternator belt but it didn't solve the problem. The battery connections are good. Also the rev counter, speedo & mileage clock keep going haywire when the battery light is on. Do you think it is the alternator? Or is it some other common problem?

I have a 2001 Mercedes C240. When the engine is running with car stopped you can feel a bit of trembling. It also cuts off during driving and at slow speeds only. Like when I will the foot off the pedal...

The first thing you do is have the engine control module scanned for fault codes. I also suggest you buy a can of spray throttle valve cleaner and clean the throttle valve and the idle speed control valve.

When in neutral or low rev occassionaly cuts out

it's your idle air valve located on the backside of your intake round with two large lines going to it make sure you check junkyards first for one because you'll faint when you hear the price at the parts counter.
