There are a few possible reasons why the windows, cruise, and mirrors dome light in your 2000 F350 is not working. Here are a few things you can check:
Check the fuse: The first thing you should do is check the fuse for the dome light. The fuse box is typically located under the dashboard. The fuse for the dome light is usually labeled "dome light" or "interior lights." If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new fuse of the same amperage.
Check the wiring: If the fuse is not blown, the next thing you should check is the wiring for the dome light. The wiring can be damaged or corroded, which can prevent the light from working. Inspect the wiring carefully for any signs of damage. If you find any damage, repair or replace the wiring.
Check the light bulb: If the wiring is not damaged, the next thing you should check is the light bulb itself. The light bulb may be burned out or loose. To check the light bulb, remove it from the socket and inspect it for any signs of damage. If the light bulb is burned out, replace it with a new light bulb. If the light bulb is not burned out, make sure that it is properly seated in the socket.
Check the switch: If the light bulb is not burned out and the wiring is not damaged, the next thing you should check is the switch. The switch may be faulty and need to be replaced. To check the switch, disconnect the wiring from the switch and test it with a multimeter. If the switch is faulty, replace it with a new switch.
If you have checked all of these things and the dome light is still not working, you may need to take the truck to a qualified mechanic for further diagnosis and repair.
It sounds like the wiring for the new dome light is not connected correctly. The green wire should be connected to the positive terminal of the dome light, and the green/black wire should be connected to the negative terminal. If the wiring is reversed, the center light will not turn off.
MOST CARS

Can you manually turn them off by moving the selector switch on the dome to "off" position? If not, the length of time that the dome lights were on may have melted the selector switch and you cannot turn them off except by removing the bulb...and replacing the switch or dome light.......
the dome light cover just pops off by prying with a screwdriver..this will expose the bulb and you can probably figure it out from there... sometimes the bulbs unscrew out and sometimes they pop out also
If it's like my 96 Ram, the dome light and headlights share a relay switch. My dome light turned on with only my parking lights on and the replacing the relay took care of it.
