I have a 2002 Nissan Altima and when I tried to start the engine, the key will turn but the car does not start. The engine doesn't even try to turn over. There is a brief beeping noise and the lights on the dashboard do turn on, but other than that, nothing. What is the problem?
Is there a clicking sound? The first thing that I would check is to make sure that the starter motor is getting voltage. If it is getting voltage then I would say that the motor is bad and needs to be replaced. If it is not getting voltage then it could be a bad fuse, relay, or a bad ground. All of these are probabilities. The last thing that I would check for is a bad ignition switch especially since the accessories come on.
