My keyless entry remote stopped working so i had unlock the door through a cracked window.... the alarm went off, but when i started it, the alem didnt stop.... now when i dont lock it and open the door or start the car, the alarm goes off.... its rediculous and annoying.... when the keyless remote works, i have no problems. do the remotes have batteries that i can change?

The keyless entry system is a vehicle entry device. The keyless entry system is used in conjunction with the body control module (BCM) to remotely activate certain vehicle features. Keyless entry will lock/unlock the doors/liftgate when a corresponding button on the keyless entry transmitter is pressed. This is accomplished by the transmitter sending a radio frequency to the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR). The RCDLR interprets the signal and activates the requested function via a serial data message to the BCM. A low transmitter or vehicle battery or radio frequency (RF) interference from aftermarket devices, such as 2-way radios, power inverters, computers, etc., may cause a system malfunction. Is this an issue with all 2008 HHR remotes??? Highly doubtful , probably the vehicles keyless entry system . Taking the vehicle to a qualified repair shop an having the keyless entry system checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . Do you know what a DTC is ?

check the battery in the keychain. or replace. Make sure the keychain remote doesnt get wet!

We had a 1995 jeep with no keyless entry also. To avoid the ALARM going off, we had to insert key into the rear door/ hatchback door keyhole and turn... Alarm would go right off. good luck.

usually after opening the door you can deactivate the alarm by pushing th unlock button or simply insert keyy in ignition and turn it on.

Unfortunately, the keyless entry remotes and OE systems usually require a dealership to service them. Sounds to me like they need to re-set the alarm

Lock all the doors from the inside (with all the doors closed), unlock your driver's door by manually lifting the lock, then press it back down after you are out - this will prevent the alarm from sounding when you use the key to unlock the door.
