I have a 2000 dodge stratus and while i was driving it just cut off like it ran out of gas so i changed the fuel filter thinking that was it and it still wont crank any suggetions please help
Wont crank as in turn over or wont start? if it wont start it could be a fuel pump. if plugs have spark its fuel related . when you turn on the key most pumps make an audible hum for a few seconds to pressure up the lines for starting

if i am not mistaken the fuel filter is built into the fuel pump. which requires you to drop the tank and replace both.

Hi,
Since it sounds where this is intermittent, I would be looking to replace the camshaft or shaft speed sensor. I had a similar problem and could not find anything wrong with the car when it ran... So I told my mechanic to replace that, since it is an electrical senor, it is something that can work fine and cut out for no reason. Disabling the car for awhile. Almost as if it gets to a certain temperature that it will not read the speed and the car shuts down as it is programed to do.
