I have a 2001 dodge grand caravan. the heating and cooling system hasn't worked since I got it (about 3 yrs ago) I live in the mountains and am disabled, with little money. I have a new granddaughter and desperately need my heat!! I have a mechanic friend who is willing to fix it, but he has few questions. 1. are there any relays or fuse links between the switch and heater motor, and if so where are they? 2. how much voltage is on the heater plug? the plug in the back of the heater motor works. the problem is that I can feel the hot and cold air at the vent, but it doesn't blow out at all. I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions that I could get on this problem. Thank You. ps he just wants to rule out other problems before I have to pay for a motor!
There's a blower motor resistor on the blower housing that goes bad and doesn't allow the fan to work. If he says he's a mechanic but doesn't know about this or how to do the repair, I think maybe he might do more damage than good. Type in your problem into google, that's how it works, just type in a sentence and scroll through the responses and pages to find a forum where you can ask your question and get a good answer.

misty check the water level in the radiato...if it is low the last thing to get any water is the heater core..if low you will need to find the reason...like a water pump or headgasket leaking

Sounds like the air "blend" door might be inoperable. This door opens and closes a specified amount to regulate the amount of either cooled or heated air, as requested by the climate control unit. If the door is continually in the position which is bypassing the heater core (cold setting), the air will not get warm regardless of the condition/operation of the heater core. I'd suggest having this component checked.

if you are sure that your heater core is not restricted. then try to recalibrate the climate control panel. if your a/c system is not working then DO NOT ATTEMPT THE RECALIBRATION it will make your lights on climate control panel flash codes forever.
to reclaibrate the climate control panel just have the engine running. turn the mode to vent, the temp to cold, the blower on high, then press and hold the rear wiper wash and wiper buttons at the same time until the panel lights up then wait about 2 minutes for it to run completly when completed. turn off ignition and then restart the engine try to se if you have heat again. if it doesntwork post the codes it gives you after the calibration test.
