My 2001 jaguar s-type is overheating. does anyone know where the thermostat is located?
Look on top center of your engine. You will see an allen-head recessed screw hols that reads TIGHTEN TO 9 NEWTONS, or something to that effect. This is the TOP of a 2-piece thermostat housing. The housing will connect at the bottom to the engine, and FORWARD to the intake hose. If you remove the three (3) bolts (VERY small allen-head) that are in a triangle pattern, you can remove the housing for the thermostat. The thermostat is located between the intake hose piece (attached to the hose) and the intake manifold for the coolant (The 9 NEWTON piece mentioned above).

Hi,
The top radiator hose should connect to the thermostat housing, bolted onto your engine. Make sure you get a new gasket.
Hope this helps... Good luck!

SOURCE: adding transmission fluid to 2001 jaguar s-type
On a 2000 s-type 4.0 There is a combination drain plus check valve on the bottom of the Pan and a fill hole on the back right side. Use WD-40 to help free up the allen-screw in the middle of the drain plug. Hold the drain screw while opening the level checking screw. If it is full, a small amount may run out. If light red fluid runs out it's OK. If brown, You got a problem. It uses special fluid! Take it to have it done in a Jaguar service facility. Or educate yourself on how to do it.
