97 suburban- fuel pump changed 5 times, fuse changed many times, Ignition regulator changed 6 times. Now the fuel pump will not come on and it is brand new all was checked and it is getting electrical spark. Brand new battery installed two weeks ago. New starter was installed less than a month ago. The vehicle when it is running will start right up with the new battery. This last time it ran good no problem starting, no cutting out parked it and would not start. The fuel pump was less than 1 week going in. Parked the car after driving it 60 miles and it would not start. Fuel pump was taken out and found the screen had come off. It was replaced with a brand new fuel pump. Now we are not getting any fire back to the fuel pump. The little fuse in the front of the engine was replaced. We are at a loss as to what to do anymore. This is very frustrating. The last year has been hell with fuel pumps and regulators. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? This is an awesome vehicle and has never given me any grief until a year ago.

have the computer checked out. may need reprogramming and have updates added. also check for loose or corroded connections at the terminals.

it sounds like the check valve in the fuel pump is letting the fuel bleed back into the tank

My problem was solved when I repaired my 4 wd activation dash switch. The switch was contacting on 2WD & 4HI at the same time. The front differential activation is vacuum activated possibly creating a tug of war that didn't actually engage it but drained off vacuum from the engine? A theory at best but stumbbled across it because I knew the switch wasn't working properly I repaired it and low and behold rough idle disappeared and all is good for 3 weeks running.

Take off the distributor cap. Check the star wheel that is splined to the distributor shaft that the pick-up coil uses. Make sure this wheel is not loose on the distributor shaft. It is right above the pick-up. If it is loose, replace the distributor. This is a common problem. If it needs one, all the part stores stock the distributor.

Did you try to get any DTC codes from the ECM. If not here is the procedure to retrieving the DTC codes. http://www.troublecodes.net/GM/ Check the fuses, make sure there all good. hope you find a DTC code which would help us find out what is wrong with the suburban quicker. Keep me posted and good luck, be glad to help you.
