No power wont start after i just had it idling. tried starting it from the on position as i was listening to the radio.

reversing cables blows out electronics.
only hope is fuse blow.
beyond that expensive repair.
learn use jumper cables properly or go broke fast.

The item in question is call Idle Air Control (IAC).
This unit function is to do fine idle trimming at idle.
IAC is located near the end of the accelerator cable.
It move internally with a worm gear to adjust idle.

You will need a friend to friend to test IAC.
Start engine and turn on all electrical items.
HIGH BEAM,AC,RADIO,ALL FANS,SUNROOF to max out the drain.
Carefully listen for movement at IAC.

Check for cable disconnection / damage at IAC.

Sounds like either a vacuum leak, a TPS throttle position sensor, an AIC air idle control valve, or worst case scenerio, an intake manifold gasket. Try spraying brake cleaner directly onto intake manifold at the gasket. If idle lowers, that is the problem. Also spray all visible vacuum hoses and listen for idle drop. Listen for air hissing as well. Good luck let me know if these are good tips

If you have power in aux position(ex.)radio works but doesn't when you put the key in the start position,the ignition switch is bad,the contacts are warn out for starting/cranking&run positions,these are used everytime you start your car,but auxillary is ony used once in awhile(ex.)your sitting listening to music while waiting for someone to come,but if you do have radio in the run position,but no cranking/starting you could have a blown resistor on fire wall or fuse for ignition,or the starter has called it quits,good luck I don't know if the starter is clicking rapid or just one click or just no power not cranking or cranking a better description of everything that happens will make this alot easier

Hook a charger up overnight, or try the jumper cables again. Make sure they are connected to the matching terminals. Check to see if anything has power without starting the car. Lights or radio working with key in the ACC position? If not, something has killed power from the battery- maybe a main fuse or a power distribution relay. Make sure the cables/connections aren't corroded at the battery posts.

Listen for the fuel pump when you first turn on the key to the run position. If you hear it then spray a small amount of starting fluid in air intake while someone tries to start it if the engine fires then most likely a Crank Position Sensor. The CPS controls your injectors.

Might be two problems, but one is your igniter in the distributor. The second, the idling problem is either your throttle position sensor, or a vacuum leak. With the engine running , check all hoses for leaks by wiggling them around, while listening for a hissing. Check intake bolts for tightness.

if you are not hearing the pump turn on there's a good chance that its the fuel pump most gm's have a faulty wiring on the fuel pump harness id check the relay and wiring if theirs power to the pump but not crank that would be it id get a gm pump not a carter better to use oem

dont worry about boost/replace the fuel pump relay behind the fuses (white,squire,tall)

that sounds correct and its probably electric and in the tank. turn the key to the start position then listen for a small humming noise coming from gas tank if theres no sound then thats most likely the problem.
