The ignition switch on my 1997 Saab 900S convertable, 2.3 engine, is getting stuck engaging the starter. Basically the key has to be backed off manually to disengage the starter. I imagine there is a spring or something in the ignition which no longer works. Could you please enlighten me on the details of the ignition switch, thoughts, probable parts, schematic, and maybe how to repair it myself. Thanks.
The switch needs to be replaced and it requires some special tools if it's in the steering column. If it's on the floor any shade tree mechanic can do it.
When putting key in ignition in my Saab 97 convertiable, the key wont turn to unlock it. therefore obviously can not use the car. We know that this is the barrel, but cannot get it out. has anyone got any knowledge of this, or can anyone help!!!
