99 S10 high beams work, but low beams don't.

I have a 99 S10 the other morning on my way into work the headlights stopped working. The high beams still work as normal, but the high beam dash light stays on at all times regardless if they are actually shining or not. The daytime running lights don't come on at all. It is as if the truck thinks the high beams are on all the time, therefore the low beams will not come on. Anyone know what I will need to do or replace to fix this?

SOURCE: 1997 Chevrolet Headlight problem

We had the same exact symptoms right down to the clicking noise under the dash. A friend who is a mechanic provided all the wiring diagrams, etc and when we pulled the dash we found that there was another enclosure behind the dash.....we stopped there.......

....waited a few days, did some research and decided since a replacement headlight switch was about $50.00 the easiest route was to to swap that out hoping it would fix the problem....was also a very easy installation.

Turns out that fixed the problem. Good luck!!!

SOURCE: headlights wont work

Well...lets start with the obvious. Check fuses and NEVER piggyback any stereo or security stuff into their fuses...you dont want the lights to shut down during a night drive!!
Check under the hood for a relay center...also has some fuses there as well.

The Daytime Running Lamps are a "straight through wiring configuration". Doubt it even goes through a headlight switch at all.
But the regular lights do.
Unless you've worked on the front of the car and forgot to plug the headlights back in, do this...
Turn the light switch on...looking at the instrument cluster , can you make the high-beam-indicator light come on?
As you rotate the headlight switch knob...does the instrument panel lights brighten or dim? You probably have a faulty headlight switch...auto stores have them...they simply plug in.

Right side headlights not working

You need to first establish that you have current to the headlight in question. With it being so flaky in how it is working I would bet that your connector is bad at the light. Grab a meter and see if you are getting your 12 volts to the connection. Cleaning it out may help you for a while.

Chevy Venture 99 low beams don't work but high beams always working

I would start with checking the headlight bulbs (slim to none possibility but starting point) next go to the headlight switch.

Low beam head lights not working - The low beams, both stopped working. The high beams work fine. I checked the fuses and all 4 are good. I even swapped the low and high beam fises just in case. No...

if the fuses are good then you need to check for power and ground at the headlight plug that attaches to the headlight bulb if you have a good power and ground there and the connections are good then the bulbs are both no good.or if you can tell the bulbs are burnt out by looking at them then you don`t have to check powers and grounds.you also can directly feed power and ground to the bulb and check both the terminals for high beam and low beam as you cannot tell which is which by looking at the terminals

My headlights are not working, but shows my high beams are on

Low Beam Fuse may be bad.
Low Beam relay position is bad.
Stalk that controls the high/low beams/cruise/lights is bad.
Low beam filament may be bad in both headlamps.

Headlights not working

If all fuses and bulbs are fine, it's probably a problem with the wiring harness. Take it to the dealer. Wiring harnesses are not something to do by yourself unless you're experienced with wiring on the specific car.
