WHAT COUNTY???????????????????????????????????
hot engine, cold or both?/// a key question
WHAT ENGINE: ( usa list , ONLY)
2.2 L F22B I4
2.2 L F22B6 I4
2.3 L F23A I4 2.3 L F23A7 I4
the fsm covers this. hose thing.... all hose can be followed,
unless its axle vents on 4wd cars. (they go no where, special)
is surging the only symtom.?
no engine stalls.?
lack of power in any gear or hills.
no misfiring?
no flooding.?
starts easy/?

ok what is surge, that it really is idle controls bad or out of comtrol
1: idle controls bad. (isc dead?)
2: or engine is running way too lean, and ISC cant keep a grip on idle.

easy huh?
and #3 misfiring so bad the idle controls fail.
are all fuses good?
is the CEL lamp glowing , then goes out running engine.
no , the scan it. or do the flash DTC codes trick.

a good tech ,first finds out if the engine holds closed loop status
hot. at idle, if not, he fixes that first.
as he/she knows that idle is the last thing to work right, in EFI.

one other way to get surge is air leaks (aka. vacuum leaks)
if the engine (unsaid option) is MAP based, it will race fast
with any vacuum leak, and it dont take much of a leak
to make the ISC idle controller go nuts.

so repost , hot/cold both questions
and actual RPM numbers. we need numbers
is the dash Tachometer missing. ????
and what engines in car.

all lean engines surge.
all ISC systems can surge if out of control , not all do this. just 1/2
if the ISC surges, it means its trying hard to gain back control.
this is called a software servo loop.
The ECU is programmed to hold rpm near say 800 RPM hot.
and is very digressive in that role.
I have a 91 car that will surge, with any vacuum leaks.
(by design) depends on which engine.

Stiff brakes

Sounds like the power brake booster is bad, that is what the master
cylinder is bolted too. There is a rubber hose that has a plastic valve
in it were it snaps into the booster, Pull that rubber hose out of the
booster and off of the engine, Now the end that you took off the engine.
You should be able to suck through the line, but not be able to blow
through it. If you can then replace the valve, It is a one way valve.

If that is all right then hook hose back up to the engine and start
engine, You should hear a major vacuum leak at the valve end, put you
finger over the valve and it should stop making noise and engine should
smooth out. If it don\'t the rubber hose must be leaking or the tube on
the engine were the hose hooks to is stoped up.

2005 HONDA ODYSSEY 3.5L V-6 ENGINE FIRING ORDER

For random misfire people it’s easy to check if the valve cover is leaking into the spark plug area thus shorting out the plugs. Pull the coils out and inspect them clean them well, the tips and grommets come off, look for cracks, replace rubber tips that are cracked or have arc burns, clean coils with brake cleaner. Removal of Intake plenum and valve pan covers is necessary to cure the issue, Must clean surfaces and use high-temperature silicone sparingly don’t overtighten, just finger tight and let cure overnight and torque them down after silicone has fully cured. Don’t allow silicone to get into the engine oil by using small amounts and don’t squeeze it all out between the surfaces by tightening it down before curing. Easy as Pi.
Many YoutTube videos on the subject. Allow 4 to 6 hours and don’t rush the job. Never paint spark plugs or they will short out causing a no start due to grounding through the paint!
Good luck! Leave feed back if this helps!

Truck surging

Surge usually means its getting extra air (VACUUM) from somewhere, usually a vacuum hose has come loose or developed a hole or crack letting extra air into the engine.

There are 2 cooling hoses that go to the radiator from the transmission. Hopefully it's one of these. The hoses are at the front of the vehicle or the right side standing in front of the vehicle. the stretch across the front to the left side. They are mostly metal ,but there is some rubber hose to it. The hoses connect to the radiator on the left side at the top and bottom of the radiator. If the hose blew out you can fix this with some new transmission hose. You will need a tube cutter, two hose clamps,a screwdriver, a razor blade/knife and 2 feet of hose just to be safe. Cut the metal tubing on each side of the rubber hose, cut enough new hose to go in it's place and use the hose clamps to secure it. If for some reason the metal tubing is bad, rust, you can do the same thing.

When I start the car it runs fine but when i put it into gear it dies and i have to restart the car. Right before this when I applied the brakes the car would jump ahead instead of stopping.

Sounds like you may have a vacuum leak. You need to look closely around the carb/intake area for any disconnected small rubber hoses. Also check a fat rubber hose (1 inch or so) which goes to the big drum looking thing drivers side firewall - part of the brakes power booster system.

Look for hanging loose tubes/hose or worn through by rubbing etc.. Try to replace tubes to closest point where it looks like it goes. May have to cut a small peice off the end if it's stretched out and loose fitting.
Hope this helps

the surge is caused by a high idle situation where the computer pulls it down but it goes back up again, hence the surge.Hopefully it is just pure bad timing that it played up after the brakes being done as nothing needs to be disturbed by it.One came into my shop like this and the idle air bleed had been tampered with.this is located on the throttle body(this is where your accelerator cable goes to).It should have a black rubber plug in it about the diameter of an aaa or aa battery end.remove this(some are already missing),inside this is a flat screw type head.Using the right size screwdriver slowly turn this clockwise while the engine is running in park. You should only have to turn this 1/2 to 1 turn in to alter the idlespeed.if no change or it slows then surges again,we will have to check some other areas. Also check your coolant level in your radiator,as these have 2 small hoses that feed coolant through the throttle body, this can give same symptons. There are a few other things to check but at this stage just check these 2 items and of course look for any hoses or sensor plugs that are not on,or any loud hissing of air escaping anywhere.Hope this helps.

Where is the thermostat on a 1995 Honda Odyssey?

Check where the top radiator hose comes into the rad.Trace it back to the motor, it should be right there at that end of the hose. Because when the vehicule heats up, the thermostat opens up and the top rad hose gets warm to the touch. Some cars have them turned on the side instead of horizontal.

2002 Nissan Frontier. Vacuum problem

jjgabrovic,

The windshield washer hoses have nothing to do with any electical componenents on the car. You simply won't get water to the windshield.

I suggest locating, and purchasing if necessary a repair manual for this truck. These newer engines have so many wires, and hoses and can be hard to trace.

All vaccum lines start from the engine area, tranny area, and lead to the firewall (back) and other compenants.

Start looking at different compenants that have small rubber hoses and try to trace them as far as you can. Search top and bottom, front and back, side to side. These hoses are sometimes linked with others by T's, and V's and such as vacuum operates several different components at once from one source.

I highly suggest getting a repair manual; CHILTON is the best, as it is more details and descriptive, and provides clear pictures to show particular components and such.

Please, let me know if you need any further assistance with this matter.

Cordially,

2006 Honda Odyssey Hot Air on driver side, cool air on pass. side

The only thing I can think of other than the AC control unit being bad is the small tube under the drivers right knee. If you look down at your right knee you will see a small area that is vented. There is a hose hooked to this vent that pulls air from inside the cabin to tell the ac what the temp is. If this hose is off or pinched the ac unit is not getting the information it needs in order to run correctly. Hope this helps.
