New tdi starter weak turns slow

One day went to start 2000 tdi and it turned sor a second and the nothing. Replaced starter and it turns very slow and seems weak. Barely turns engine over a full revolution. Replaced battery with higher cold cranking amps but still weak. Replaced starter again. It worked for a few days but now it's too weak again. Tried starting while engine was all the way hot but it just turns very slow and weak

Sometimes battery cables can short the circuit; try getting them away from any metal or each other.

SOURCE: When I turn the key to crank my Dodge Ram 2500, nothing happens.

Is this a manual or automatic tranny? I would be looking at the gearshift selector, did you try starting it in neutral, as opposed to park, if it's an auto, and how about a switch on the clutch pedal to prevent starting in gear, if it's a manual? How about wiring to the neutral safety start switch? Any fuses, circuit breakers been checked? What year truck?
I'm just throwing things out there, just to check before you spend any more money that you don't have to.
I could use a battery, right now- got an extra one?
:-)

Good luck and keep us posted.

you need to replace the Park Neutral Safety Sensor on the bottom of the Transmission. Should only be a $125.00 part. Your battery and starter are fine. Replace it and iy will be fixed.

SOURCE: 98 saturn sl1 won't start

If the problem occurs after the car has been driven long enough to reach normal operating temperature, the problem is the starter. If the 'no crank' occurs cold, retest the battery.

SOURCE: Turbo diesel, cranks but does not start when it is cold.

Have the cold start valve replaced, it enriches the fuel mix during cold start and check the glow plugs and see if any are bad, to test remove the wires and put test meter to ohms and one by one test each glow plug with one probe to ground and one on the tip of the glow plug see it it goes close to zero if it does not move then that glow plug is bad, replace all that you find bad.

your starter solenoid is out. may have even blown a fuse under the hood in the fuse box in front of the driver. i believe it is a 30 amp.

Starter problems, Suggestions???

Starters tend to fail intermittently. Yes, if it started after a "whack", I woul suggest replacing your starter. Make sure all connections are tight and of course clean terminals and cables.

Grinding noise immediately after start up - (starter engaged?)

Sounds like your starter is slow to disengage , but I would check with someone who is handy with cars , not necessarily a mechanic , just someone who can confirm your assessment and my suspicion. If that's the case , you might have to replace the starter. This problem could damage the ring gear on the engine which would be a lot of $ to have replaced.

How do u replace the starter in a 2000 sonnata

Sounds like you may have a voltage problem. Do yourself a favor and don't try to do this yourself. Your starter either dies or it doesn't (almost always). A more common problem would be a weak fuel pump.

See if the dealer has any TSB or Recall on this problem. If not, you might want to check out www.alldatadiy.com and put in your specifics. Find the flow chart for hard start, crank no start or slow/sluggish starting. That should get you moving in the right direction.

Hope that helps.

Cold temps starter will not turn over the engine

I had same problem with my 03 jetta. I replaced battery to better cca and it did nothing. Each shop I went to had no idea. My friend who is a car guy installed a push button start. He told me his audi did the same thing and that it worked on that car as well. He said something like in the cold something condenses and shrinks and it won't spark, I know nothing about cars, so I can find out exactly what he did if you want. I do know that it works great and the parts were like 15 bucks total.
