1. Check battery - even if otherwise good, if it measures under 12 volts (even just under) it won't start. Saab's are finicky about that.

2. Does immobiliser recognize the key? If not, it won't turn. Are you using an original key mated to the car or a replacement key fob without the electronic guts?

3. Does key open the door? If so, put in ignition, turn to ON (if you can) and press Open Door button on key. Try even in Off position if not.

4. DO NOT spray anything into the ignition keyhole (as others may suggest). It will gum it up. If you have to, remove ignition keyhole and clean with alcohol.

SOURCE: Can't start my car

Did you park such that there is a load on the wheel? you may need to release the load against the lock while you turn the key.

SOURCE: Ignition and steering locked.1990Saab turbo Hatchback auto

Your ignition lock probably has sticky pin inside of tumbler.
Try spraying some WD40 or PB Blast into the key cylinder.

Key stuck in ignition car stuck in park key won't go to off position

There may be to much pressure on the steering wheel lock for it to go into the off position. put the parking brake on. put the shifter in neutral gently turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction of where the wheels are pointed and try turning the key to the off position. Good Luck

I have a 95 camaro, I put the key in ignition and it will not turn the ignition. It's like it's stuck. Replaced the ignition module and still cannot turn ignition. Help!

the ignition module (ignition switch on top of the steering column) normally doesn't get stuck.

things you can try:
steering wheel lock: (the pin gets a "burr" on it and locks everything up) wiggle steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn key.

transmission lock (parking on an incline will jam up the interlock)
push the shifter farther into park while trying to turn the key, or wiggle shifter

I have a 1994 caprice,the ignition is stuck in

No.
It could be a damaged lock cylinder, or the ignition switch.
You can disconnect the switch to see if the lock will move.

Key stuck in ignition

Make sure that the shifter is fully engaged in park and that the steering wheel is in the locked position. Also you can check to make sure that there isn't a small lever on the steering column that you need to push to release the key. Lastly you could try to step on the brake put the car in neutral and put the key in the off position and then gently pull out.

Ignition key won't turn Hyndai VeraCruz

I have a 2011 Hyundai Veracruz and for no reason my steering wheel locked in position and the key would not turn. I tried everything for over an hour and then thought about disconnecting the battery to let all the electronics reset. I prayed about the situation and had other things to do so I left the battery disconnected for about an hour and when I returned connected the battery and magically (or a God answered prayer) the problem was solved steering wheel turned, key turned and engine started.

Ignition key won't turn

Try turning the key while jerking the wheel left and right and depressing the brake pedal. If that won't work try another key.

My Chevy Cobalt just worked like an hour ago, and now I can put the key into the ignition, but the key won't turn. The steering wheel is locked, it is stuck in park, the wheels are almost straight, and...

Hi, what you need to do is put the key in the ignition then grab hold of the steering wheel then whilst trying to turn the key you need to turn the steering wheel to the left or right it may be a bit stiff but once its moved it should free the lock, so try turning the wheel to the left and right as hard as you can whilst turning the key doing this should free the steering lock and get it started.

also try putting the key in the ignition the other way round and then give it a try.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks
