I just bought a 2002 Dodge Caravan, when the heater is on the drivers side blows cold, passanger side blows warm

I just bought a 2002 Dodge Caravan, when you turn the heat on it blows cold on the drives side and in the middle, but the passangers side blows warm air, what could be wrong, I called the local Dodge Dealer and he said about 500.00 to repair, I just cant see a heater costing that much with one part and as he said install would take no time at all.

This could be due to a fail temperature ( blend door) actuator for the driver side.

Check the passenger side mode door actuator. This is located under the dash on the passenger side. Once you find it watch the rod as you move the temp lever from hot to cold to see if it moves. If it does make sure that the rod is hooked to the door. If it doesn't the actuator is probably bad or the door is jammed.

SOURCE: Heater on driver-side blows barely warm air other vents blow cold

the most probabale cause of this would be a disfunctional hear core if you replace your heater your heater will more than likley work the the way it's supposed to

SOURCE: 2002 Grand Cherokee heater warm on drivers side cold on passanger

generally this is caused by a "blend door " motor (actually a vacuum control) not working. I don't have a diagram on this but if you watch the motors mounted to the heater box under the dash, and operate the control, you likely will find one not moving (check all positions including a/c)

It has a broken blend air door on the drivers side. The heater box will have to come out ,and the door replaced.
