SOURCE: my check engine light is on ran the code it is

check to make sure no vacuum leak as this will cause the code. check air filter is it dirty? if not on both the o2 sensor on bank one needs to be replaced. the will refer to this as the upstream o2 sensor its located on the rear of the engine in the exhaust manifold. hope this helps. dont know if this is a 3.8 or 3.1 so heres photos for both onetufshoppe_52.gifonetufshoppe_51.gif

P2270 - O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Lean Bank 1 Sensor 2 Comments ' Add Yours
Possible causes
- Faulty Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1
- Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 harness is open or shorted
- Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 circuit poor electrical connection
- Exhaust gas leaks Help with this
When is the code detected?
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detected the HO2S12 sensor has reported a lean condition for an extended period during an intrusive test
Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- High Fuel Consumption
- Excessive Smoke from Exhaust
P2270 Description
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) supplies a voltage of about 450 mV between the HO2S high and low signal circuits. The oxygen sensor varies the voltage over a range from about 1,000 mV when the exhaust is rich, down through about 10 mV when the exhaust is lean.
The PCM monitors and stores the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) voltage information. The PCMevaluates the HO2S voltage samples in order to determine the amount of time the HO2S voltage was out of range. The PCM compares the stored HO2S voltage samples taken within each sample period and determines if majority of the samples are out of the operating range.

2000 chevy silverado ,5.3 liter engine .service engine soon light on so scanned for problem codes ,results bank 1&2 are running lean .what is the cause or problem that needs to be done to fix

Check for loos connections between the intake and the tube from the air filter. Check if the clamp is loose or leaks in the tube which can cause an incorrect reading. Other than that it may be a dirty MAF sensor which can be fixed by spraying carb cleaning or tuner spray in the intake or it may be bad or a bad oxygen sensor;.

Rough idle vibrates and po171 code service engine soon. [email protected]

Hi, a Ford P0171 is a LEAN code for cylinder bank 1, and P0174 is a LEAN code for cylinder bank 2. These codes commonly occur on many Ford vehicles, and are set when the powertrain control module (PCM) sees the air/fuel mixture is running too lean (too much air, not enough fuel).
When the Check Engine Light comes on, either one of these codes, or both, may be found when a code reader or scan tool is plugged into the vehicle diagnostic connector. IF the vehicle is driven long enough, typically both codes will be set.
A P0171 lean code for bank 1 is the cylinder bank on the RIGHT (passenger) side of the engine on Ford vehicles with a V6 or V8 engine and rear-wheel drive.

A lean fuel condition may exist if the engine is sucking in too much air and/or the fuel system is not delivering enough fuel. If bad enough, a lean fuel condition may cause lean misfire, a rough idle, hesitation or stumble when accelerating, and/or poor engine performance.
Unmetered air can enter the engine through a vacuum leak, a dirty airflow sensor that is not reading airflow accurately, an EGR valve is not closing and is leaking exhaust into the intake manifold, an EGR valve that is allowing too much flow (because the EGR differential pressure sensor that monitors EGR flow is faulty and is under-reporting EGR flow).
If the problem is not enough fuel, the underling cause may be a weak fuel pump, restricted fuel filter, leaky fuel pressure regulator or dirty fuel injectors.

Service engine soon light on, says bank 1 and 2 lean

this code sets when more air is entering the system than is designed to. the computer is having to overcompensate by adding more fuel. usually this code is associated with a vacuum leak, either a vacuum hose or a leak at the throttle body gasket, intake gasket, or another gasket on the intake manifold. if your vehicle has a mass air flow sensor (as opposed to a MAP sensor) a dirty or faulty mass air can cause both banks to be lean

codes are for fuel system lean bank 1 and 2. low fuel pressure or innacurate mass air flow sensor could cause this. most common is mass air flow sensor.
