I have had the deck light problem for a few years, tonight I wiggled the wiring harness going in the left rear of trunk. The latch for the trunk was moving without me doing anything else, closed it and the deck light was OFF. I will ,look harder at that harness tomorrow but damn i finally got relief.

SOURCE: car won't start wants to turn over but nothing.

sounds like you have a blown head gasket this would explain loss of coolant and running poorly excessive smoke.

No dash and tail lights working.

Well the dash lights and tail lights are on two different circuits and fuses, but both controlled by the headlight switch.
Have you checked the fuses to see if they have power ?

My brake lights work but my tail lights and reverse lights don't work. Also my dash lights quit when I changed the switch for my headlights.

Check your fuses. I had the same problem with a 90 Honda civic. Dash lights went out, tail lights also went out. Replaced 1 fuse and all came back on.

1988 pathfinder no dash lights no revers lights no tail lights no gaiges

If they all stopped working at the same time then it is probably a fuse or possibly 2. Check your fuse panels in the dash and under the hood. The dash lights and gauges should be a fuse labeled instrument cluster or guages, it is probably blown. The other fuse to look for will be the tail light fuse. This is where I would begin.

BRAKE AND TAIL LIGHTS DON'T WORK. HAVE REPLACED BRAKE SWITCH AND LIGHT SWITCH. NO CHANGE. LIGHTS ARE GOOD, CAN HOT WIRE AND RUNNING LIGHTS WORK. ALSO WHEN HOT WIRED DASH LIGHTS COME ON

Hi.

Test with a voltmeter the contacts to the fuses for tail lights and brake lights. If there is no power getting to fuses from instrument panel, and switches had already been replaced, then it is a wiring problem from switch to fuse box, otherwise from fuse box to lights. the defective wiring must be repaired or rebuilt.

What started this mess? tailights, fog lights, brake lights....

The relay has nothing to do with the tail lights, but replacing the switch sounds like a good idea. There's a nut holding it in place, see http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/electrics/switches/switch-headlight/1027524/ to get an idea of the construction. And the price. This is not worth fiddling about unreliable workarounds...
In addition, if fuses 15 and/or 16 burn frequently there might be a problem with the tail light cabling.

Good luck
