First the airbag system can be dangerous to work on and it is usually best to consult a professional since to accidental inflation of an airbag can cause injury, do not cut any wires and disconnect the battery when working on the system.
When the airbag light is on it disables the airbag system inmost vehicles meaning if there is a collision the airbags will not deploy. Some autoparts stores can check codes which is where to start with the warning light on and modular connected check the airbag trouble codes with this information it will be easier to diagnose the system and the cause of your problem. I hope this helps

SOURCE: change spark plugs 2001 4 cyl hyundai sonata

You change One spark plug, and One wire at a time. Do you know where your timing belt is? If not, its on either the right or left side of the engine. There is a covor to the timing belt. You take the First plug that is closest to that belt. Then you work your way to the next closest all the way to the last one. Remember, you have to do ONE at a time.

SOURCE: VW Beetle Airbag Light

The problem is the seatbelt latch. The wiring right at the latch and the strap are broken. Seems there is not enough slack in these wires to allow much stretch. You may be able to repair it if you can splice these wires back together if not about 160 to 170 for a new one. you can have it put on a machine and if the code leads back to the latch then you know this is the problem.

SOURCE: wire is unplugged under driver seat! Wear do I plug it back into

Often there are 'UNUSED' wire harness connectors in various places on vehicles (i.e., heated seats for example when the vehicle didn't come with them). The best solution is to find out what trouble code exists in the SRSCM (Supplemental Restraint System Control Module). There are over 100 different codes/troubles which can turn on the AirBag light. Take the veh in to a Hyundai dealership to find out what code(s) has/have been stored in the SRSCM -- it simply might be a "History" code, like DSAB (Driver's Side Air Bag) Resistance - High - H. Hyundai Dealerships use two different scanning systems - HighScan and GDS. Once you find out which code, you can go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register and access all the info you want about your Sonata. CAUTION: Air Bag systems encorporate explosive components - trust the professionals

SOURCE: 99 hyundai sonata airbag light and reset.

There are no campaigns/recalls for the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System - Air Bag). However, there is a Service Bulleting regarding the wiring harness under the seats:
DESCRIPTION: Motion of the side impact air bag wiring harness and connector may result in illumination of the air bag warning light and one or both diagnostic codes listed below:

  • B1378: Driver side air bag (DSAB) resistance high.
  • B1382: Passenger side air bag (PSAB) resistance high.
This campaign provides a new side impact air bag wiring harness connector mounting procedure. VEHICLES AFFECTED:
  • Model : 1999 - 2002 SONATA vehicles
  • Production date range: - Produced through July 23, 2001
  • VIN range: - Produced through KMHWF35H82A526636
SPECIAL NOTES: The service procedure to be followed depends on the original wire harness routing under the seats. The required parts are different for each procedure.
  • For vehicles produced on or before June 30, 1999, use the procedure for Type 1 seats. Order service kit part number 88010-38A00.
  • For vehicles produced on or after July 1, 1999, use the procedure for Type 2 seats. Order service kit part number 88010-38B00.
If your vehicle doesn't fall within the production range, it's not affected.
I recommend you take the vehicle into a Hyundai Service Department and ask them if your vehicle has had this repair already. If it doesn't apply, pay the diagnostic fee to find out what the problem is. They will give you an estimate of repairs (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc.).. Then you'll know what the problem is.

I change my evaporator on1997 a4 audi and then the airbag light came on how do i reset the light

Only by using a diagnostic scantool (VAS, VAG-COM, Bosch KTS, ...) connected to the data link connector of the car in order to check & reset the Airbag ECU. The Data Link Connector (DLC) - car diagnostic plug is placed on back side between driver and passenger seats, on bottom back side of armrest under a plastic cover of ashtray. Under cover near back ashtray is a small plastic cover hidding DLC.

Honda Accord 2001 LX. Srs lamp still lighting, what I have to check ?

Here's a quick check list for most common cost of SRS / Air bag problem.

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger seat belt buckles

Dirty contacts on seat belt connectors (under seats)

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger sides weight sensors (under seat)

Seat covers

Weight on passenger seat

(Example: grocery package trigger SRS / Air Bag light on the way home.)

I recommend you to pass an vacuum over the contacts and use CRC electronic parts cleaner to rule out connectivity2_bing.gif problem.

I DO NOT disconnecting the negative battery connector to clean the code(s)

Without the code(s) the dealer will takes "BILLABLE" time to reproduce the problem.

2005 Hundai Sonata - the airbag light is on. Is it a sensor?

sounds like either driver sidebag, or passsidebag connector issues, the pins get dirty over time, ressisance builds up, their under both front seats, but should be checked by a qualified tech. the light can only be turned off with a scantool.

The cable underneath the seat

A poor connection in the YELLOW CONNECTOR under the seat is the usual cause of FORD airbag problems.

Make sure it is fully pushed together and that will normally clear the Airbag Fault Light on the dashboard

2001 PT Cruiser Limited Ed. Airbag light keeps coming on and off and chimes every time it does. Is there any way to turn it off for now, its driving me bonkers?

There may be some reasons of coming the airbag light on your PT Cruiser. Some connectors could be loose under seats or sensor of steering wheel could fail. However it is really rear. Your problem is probably caused by common problem in PT Cruisers - by broken wire on driver's seat.
Before you start doing anything disconnect a car battery. After 15 minutes remove a plastic panel from the seat (the one you can see when you open your door). Than you will see a wire in plastic cover. It connects an airbag in your seat and yellow connector under the seat. The wire breaks near to the second plastic T-shaped part (looking from the top of the seat backrest). It is located where is a pooling line and rising seat connector wire - somewhere in the center of lenght of the seat. Put the seat backrest to the vertical position, push up the black plastic cube of the line to remove it and have some room to repair the wire, cut a cloth tape. You should have ***** white and red wires. Inspect the wire about 1,5 inch from the center of the place where was the center of the T-shaped plastic keeper. The wire outside will be looking as new, but coper lines inside used to be broken. Strech slightly one by one of the 2 wires. When you find the break just cut the plastic cover in that place, remove 0,25 inch of the cover from each of cut end of wire and twist the ends or put extra 2 inch insert of the same wire. Wrap the coper wires in insulating tape neatly and tape all of the wires together with the T-shaped plastic keeper. Put on place the line udjusting a backrest of the seat, the keeper and plastic cover of the seat. Connect a battery and check it.
If you are not sure where is the place whre the wire could be broken, it is exactly 30 centimetres from the connector of the airbag. TomasS

Trouble With Seat Controls

There is an Open Campaign on the 06 Sonata - POWER SEAT SWITCH REPLACEMENT
(CAMPAIGN T82), but not on the 2001 sonata. If a 2001, it would be out of warranty - the control switch is most probably the problem... replace the switch. However, you wrote 2009 Hyundai Soinata - that would still be under warranty. Take it into a Hyundai Service Department - they'll diagnose the problem and fix it.
