My 1998 Chrysler Concorde's headlights suddenly turned off while I was driving tonight. I could turn on the brights. I turned on hazards and when I went to turn them off they wouldn't turn off. And then, when the headlights came back on and I turned the car off and the lights off, they stayed on until I turned them on/off again. It's night and I'm 3 hours from home. I'm going to wait until a.m. to continue driving. Is this a symptom of another problem? Can I drive this in the daytime? Or will other things start to fail? Alternator is from 2008. Not sure of battery age.

Some vehicles use a circuit breaker in the headlight circuit so that when there is a short then the breaker opens and then closes so that night vision is not totally lost from a blown fuse . Check out the system for a blown fuse or faulty breaker or faulty light module.
there is a regulator for the display brightness, you may have it turn'd down or it has stopped working;. it controls the brightness at which the dash lights are. usually has a speedo sign on it. goes up and down. it works with the main light and is conecter to them on the same lighting board if it has gone then a new light swtch control switch will be needed.
I have had this happen before - this is the multifunction switch on the steering column. The one on my Ford took about 10 minutes to change (two bolts). My problem - I would turn my lights off, then turn them back on and nothing, then they would suddenly pop on. after a bit my lights would not come on at all. I had to drive with my Flash to Pass lights for a couple of days when driving at night.
I am having the same problem with my 1999 chrysler concorde amoung other problems. But they will work at times and then they will just stop for no reason. Have you found any solutions yet?
When was the last time you changed the fuel filter? when clogged, they will cause the engine to stall when stopped, or while driving. Inexpensive, if you can do it yourself, Part cost-under $15, for most cars. Won't do any harm to change it, know what I mean?
