99 blazer tighten windshield wiper arm

Every time I change the wiper blades, even tho I don't use them that often, the blade in front of the passengerside starts missing the entire middle of the window.. Is there a way to tighten the arm spring to make sure it keeps contact better? I switch the wiper blades and same issue.

there is a keeper on the inside of the arm. its easier to get to if you remove the whole arm. lift the wiper arm and near the pivot point there is a little flat bar that sticks out along the arm itself. its about a quarter inch long. pull that out alittle and slide the arm off the peg. makes it easier for me. if you cannot get the wiper off still, destroy it. your replacing it anyway and the arm is pretty sturdy.

You are on the right track. If you have removed that little cap, and unbolted the nut what you do is pull and wiggle. There is a special tool, but if you are persistent you can do it without the tool. A little WD-40 never hurts either.

WINDSHIELD WIPER REMOVAL

Open the cap at the end of the windshield wiper arm at the cowl of the Blazer. This will reveal the bolt that secures the wiper arm to the wiper linkage.unbolt the wiper arm using a 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Place the bolt to the side, as you will reuse it later. Pull the wiper arm up at the blade so that the blade of the wiper is pointing into the air. Then pull at the base of the arm, wiggling it slightly. It's a keyed gear, so it may take a little bit of work to break it free, but with the right amount of wiggling, it will disengage. goodluck

The wiper motor on my 1983 Ford Ranger still works but the wipers no longer move. I think there is a failure of the mechanical linkage. Where do I go to find repair parts?

why do you think the motor still works if the wipers don't move? Can you hear the motor run or can you see a little movement when you turn the switch on?

What happens when you activate the washers?

go to a salvage yard that allows you to remove the parts yourself. Then you can see how the motor and linkage assembly comes out.

don't have 1983 info, but here is 1994:

Section 01-16A: Wiper and Washer System, Ranger/Explorer 1994 Ranger and Explorer Vehicles Workshop Manual
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Windshield Wiper System, Ranger/Explorer The windshield wipers are actuated by a permanent magnet, rotary-type electric windshield wiper motor (17504) . The two windshield wiper pivot arms (17526) and windshield wiper blades (17528) are mounted on a pivot shaft, one at each side of the windshield. The windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft (17566) are connected to the motor by windshield wiper adapter and connecting arm clip (17531) . Ranger and Explorer vehicles are equipped with an interval wiper and washer (IWW) system featuring a lever-type turn signal and windshield wiper switch (13K359) mounted on the steering column. The IWW windshield wiper governor (17C476) uses a relay contact to control current to the windshield wiper motor . The governor electronic circuitry controls the contact to supply current to windshield wiper motor . A rear wiper/washer system is available on Explorer vehicles. The rear window wiper system consists of a windshield wiper motor mounted inside the liftgate (40010) , an articulating windshield wiper pivot arm and windshield wiper blade , a windshield wiper/washer switch (17A553) and an inline circuit breaker. The front electric windshield washer system consists of a control switch, integral with the turn signal, a windshield washer reservoir (17618) and windshield wiper motor and the necessary windshield washer hoses (17A605) , windshield washer nozzle jet and brackets (17603) and attaching parts.

Front windshield wipers are crashing into each other

Yes you can adjust them yourself. First you need to check that the wiper arms are not bent. If not, remove the cap at the wiper arm base, under it u will find a nut, remove this nut. you should now be able to remove the wiper arm. (it is comon for caravan wiper arms to be corroded on. If the arm dosen't come off, you may need to heat up the wiper arm with a propane torch. be careful not to melt the plastic cowel under the arm. OR you can use a wiper puller or a battery puller. do not force it, you can break the arm, DO NOT PRY AGAINST THE COWEL OR WINDSHIELD.
Once both arms are off, turn your van on and turn the wipers on. watch the wiper posts, turn the wipers off and watch the wiper posts return and stop in the "parked" position. Turn the van off. Install the passanger wiper arm first, it is positioned closest to the bottom an inch or two above the black cowel. It should be parrallel to the cowel. next install the drivers side wiper arm. it is positioned about 4 inches above the passanger wiper. again running parrallel to the cowel and passanger wiper. tighten the lock nuts down (do not over tighten) wet down your windshield with glass cleaner or windshield washer fluid and test wipers. If they still hit you can lower the passanger one a little or raise the drivers one a little (careful you don't raise the drivers one too much or it will 'jump' off the windshield at the top of the wipe).
    good luck, hope this helps.

How do I remove front wiper blades to replace with new ones on my 2006 nissan quest

How to Replace Wiper Blades Guide:
Potential tools needed to replace wiper blades:
    • Flat blade screwdriver (small)
    • Small nosed pliers
    • Latex or vinyl gloves
    • Safety goggles
To replace wiper blades the actual action of replacing the blade is no big deal, it's the location of the blade down below the hood that can make it difficult though. Sometimes it helps to open the hood to gain access to the wiper blades. Other times it is helpful if the wiper blade is somewhere in the motion line of wiper action. The trick is to get the wiper to stop somewhere in the wiper arc. Turn the wipers to the on position and allow the wipers to start, and then shut the key off when the wiper has arrived in a desirable position on the windshield. To replace your wiper blades please follow the step by step instruction below. Also, watch the How to replace wiper blades video below to gain additional information. The method in which the wiper blades are attached will vary slightly.
    • Step 1: With the hood closed, turn the wipers on, when the wipers are in the middle of their arc turn the key to the off position. (Note: if this can't be done because of wiper condition and you want to avoid scratching the windshield please open your hood to gain access)
    • Step 2: Locate the mounting clips at the top pivot on the wiper blade
    • Step 3: Release the clip and remove the wiper arm
    • Step 4: Match the size of the old blade against the new blade to ensure proper fit and operation
    • Step 5: Reinstall the new wiper blade and recheck wiper operation

    Common Problems:
    • Make sure the wiper blades are the same size as the original blades.
    • When replacing wiper blades not getting the blade on the mounting pin completely allowing the wiper arm to become dislodged and possibly causing damage to the windshield.
    • Using wiper blades after the blade has failed permanently damaging the windshield by craving scratches in the wiper arc.
    • Wiper blade can create a chattering noise when the blade is not properly balanced allowing the blade to "flop" back and forth as the wiper direction changes.

I hope help you with this (remember rated this help) Good luck.
