2001 manual Dodge Dakota sport 4 cylinder with 2.5 engine is idling extremely high, especially when I use clutch to change gears. Can barely push cluth and it will not idle as high
SOURCE: dodge dakota wont idle
You might have a possibilty of a vacume leak check all vacume line connections.
SOURCE: idles too high
The throttle position sensor, located on the throttle body, just clean and and test or replace if needed.
SOURCE: the engine knocks at higher rpm, only at high rpms
First no matter what check the oil level and then if it's a high rev tapping you need to allow the oil to flow through the engine block to try to coat and settle your valves.
But if it's really " knocking " sounds like your lifters and rocker arms are allowing your piston rods to clatter and that needs to be looked into fast.

look at the shifter linkage, and as far as the heat check your heater core
SOURCE: how to change gear shift cable on 2001 dodge dakota 2 wheel drive
the cable goes from the shifter to the transmittion arm,, both cable ends connect via a pin and cotter key (usually) the cable housing (black outside layer) is connected to the shifter frame usaually by a clip and is bolted to the transmittion with a couple bolts on the other end ,, i know this was pertty basic but hope it helped

Purchased new TPS (throttle position sensor), did not fix the problem.
