We would like to know how to remove the back seat in order to try to unjam the lock. We put some things in the trunk and think it got caught in the lock.

If it was an old police vehicle it has probably got an ignition kill switch located somewhere. This will have to be removed. And the wiring put back to factory standards. If not an old police car you are not getting voltage to the starter which is a bad relay. Do you get a clicking sound when you try to start? If yes, have someone keep hitting the start and listen and look for a relay under the hood.

There should be a safety trunk release located on the upper rear window deck platform- a black handpull . If it is still intact- it should pop the trunk lid.
