2001 Chevy 1500HD EFI Engine started sputtering as I slowed down for turn, lights dimmed back and forth with engine speed. Rough idle. I can pump the pedal and get the rpm up but it sputters again at acceleration and tries to die out. Now it will not start. Battery has life. EFI prime seems to sound different but not sure. Now the engine won't kick over.

Have a load test done on the battery to check for failing cell. Check the drive belt condition and tension. check alternator out put. Everything you have mentioned indicates a lack of battery power. Check terminal condition and tension of the clamp bolts.

SOURCE: Rough idle, Car shakes, sputters and misfires upon acceleration

It sounds like you may have a problem feeding the fuel to your engine, I had the same problem with my 89 RS. All the 1989 model's fuel systems were recalled. I think you may need a new fuel pump. The fuel pump is located inside the gas tank in the rear of the car right under the rear axle. The fuel pump itself isn't too expensive, but with other small parts such as the electrical harness upgrade and fuel filter and the labor you should be looking somewhere in the $500 range. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: engine sputtered, then died. Towed home. I

Might be fuel pump, or filter is pluged up, best to chg. filter and then do a fuel pressure test.

SOURCE: ENGINE SPUTTER AND DIES ON ACCELERATION

check your fuel filter, take an air compressor and blow air through the "in" end if no or little air is coming through then just replace the filter, if fuel filter is ok then try a fuel additive to clean your injectors which are a very common problem when the engine gets gunky build up on them

Check engine light is on, any speed above 30mph it gives a flashing check engine light, acceleration feels bogged down, engine idle is rough and shakes the truck

I'm guessing you have over 100000 miles , definitely replace all the spark plugs and ignition cables and cap and rotor if your motor is such equipped. If you want a better idea of which cylinders are misfiring, go to your local Checker or Autozone and ask them for code retrieval, codes stored will give you an idea of what is failing. Code po300 is multiple misfire, po301 is cyl #1, po302 is cyl #2 and so forth.

2006 Suzuki forenza. sometimes it takes a long time turning engine over to start. when it does start, the tach revs up to 4 and won't slow down. when you shift the car into gear, it shuts off. when it is...

bad idle, and surges.
gets better, does that mean it idles at the correct regulated RPM
HOT? 800.?
and does the engine coolant hit 180 to 200 F and hold there.?
Sounds like the ISC valve is stuck open, clean it.
ISC means, idle speed controls.
also air leaks, vacuum leaks can do this on speed density, EFI.
Im not sure which EFI you have, too lazy to look that up.

which engine do you have, and what country, ?
as a mech, i open hood and look, on the net , i cant do that.
so.... no real help

Engine idles rough at red lights begins loping rpms drop to almost killing, then cycles back to normal, then repeats rough idle drop in rpms and loping, back and forth until I rev engine or take off

You could have a clogged fuel filter, if you haven't changed it in awhile. You could have a leak in the intake system somwhere also. When you slow down, you get less power to the engine. It may need spark plugs and wires as well, if in need for a tune up.

Car idle is all over the place, engine makes a puterring sound, like it wants to shut off and the car will viberate, lights are constantly dimming back and forth, and has no real power on acceleration....

sounds like the fuel system or a vacuum problem. When the car is sputtering up the hood and listen for a hissing noise, if none the start with the fuel filter and then pump. Hopefully it is the filter, the pump on some Honda's are under the back seat. Hope this helped tim

92 Ford F150 4.9L. starts good, idles rough, dies at slow speeds

4.9 litre ?? you having a laugh its a 10ton truck engine not a pick up -global warming machine, remove the pump/sender unit and check the gauze filter also look inside tank for a something floating around ,i think the idles is not a related problem to the vehicle losing power but their is a possibility you could have a problem with the little vac operated thing on the fuel injector line that allows the fuel through only when the engine is running

2004 Envoy xl stalls when making turns

this is caused by slow engine idle speed, do the procedure below.
Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Chevy 1/2 ton 2wd 4.3 vortec rough idle tried everything I know

I had the same problem with my 96 Chevy 4.3. It idled rough enough to shake the truck at a stop. It revved up fine but sputtered on take off. My truck did not want to stay in overdrive because of the low rev. I changed cap, rotor, plugs, wires and this did nothing. Finally I took the intake off and found corrosion on the side intake gaskets near the rear of the engine causing a vacuum leak.
