88k ..drive and reverse gears working but in park or neutral it idles high. then when attempting to drive it seems as if it is not getting gas it revs to 2k rmp and when i release the gas it goes down and the car jolts a little faster. what could be causing this and how do i make it stop so i can get home?
Your Dynamic Stability Control and ABS are both critical safety system... Rather than TRYING to LIMP home...
Park BRAKE means focus on the REAR AXLE...!!
It might be Wiser to has a look at each wheel... and under the car to see if a ROAD-HAZARD has taken out speed sensor...
or a similar SAFETY SYSTEMS impairment...
Getting a FREE read from an AUTOZONE (were they're
very likely to try to peddle OXYGEN SENSORS...
(even if your wheel & tire are gone (in MY opinion))...
might be better WITH ALL THAT rather than trying
to LIMP home...

ELSE
I personally purchase the FACTORY WORKSHOP
repair manuals (XJS: quite expensive)... but WORTH it.
Much cheaper than letting "DEALERS" mess...
things up ...
Be safe... (tow it home... part of that British Charm
(standing by the roadside waiting for a lorry)).

I've had the same problem on my 2001. It turned out to be the battery. Apparently the voltage had dropped to the point that the computer began to malfunction. I'd first go to a battery shop and have it checked under load before looking for other solutions.

discoonect the battery, turn the key 5-6 times to start then re connect battery. This will reset the computer and could reset the fault
SOURCE: DSC and ABS Not avail lights come on after driving.
There is a switch underneath that goes out due to the debris underneath. Either take it to the shop or deal with the lights comming on.
