When I turn the switch to ACC, the widows all work. Then when I crank the engine, they continue to work for about 2 seconds, then they stop working, and will not work again until I stop the engine and then turn the key back to ACC. I've replaced the ignition switch, but the problem continues.

hi bucketsr
Check your ignition line from the replacement switch and make sure that you're getting power when it should come...The connections may be different from the original....check the cables too...look for a short which could have caused the original problem....If all these are ok, you may have a problem with an encoded key system, in which case you'll need to get it re-encoded at a dealer...
Good luck and best wishes Johngee10
SOURCE: Engine won't crank or seem to get power on key turn.
More than likely, your starter has gone out. If the battery is fully charged and its not even turning over, that is what i would start with.
SOURCE: Horns blares continuously when key is removed from ignition!
Locate the fuse for the horn and see if nothing else is ran off the same fuse then remove the fuse.

engine should not continue to turn over when key is out sounds like the key switch the wrong one or you have wired it wrong
SOURCE: my power windows and wipers stopped working on my 1995 ford explorer
Your wiper system and your power windows share several different circuits and components including the Battery Saver Relay, The Inadvertent Power Relay and the Generic Electronic Module. Each of these circuits need to be tested individually to determine the location of the failure. Chances are that one repair will fix both your power windows and your wipers. However, locating the actual cause is going to be the tough part and wil require some considerable skills in diagnosing automotive electrical systems.
If you think you can handle it yourself and you have the testing equipment necessary to diagnose the circuits, I can guide you through it.

Steven, have you found the source of the problem? I am having the EXACT same issue. Word for word.
Nope, and it's gotten worse - much worse. Now when the key is turned to ACC, smoke starts pouring from the defrost vents. Smells like wire insulation, so there's a short somewhere. However, if you turn past ACC and crank the engine, the smoke stops.
