Both are separate fuses, check them first. Dash lights are controlled threw the dimmer switch. Park lights threw the turn signal switch. If you have front marker lights, then the rear is a ground problem. Ground is at the body, in the back, on the drivers side. If no marker lights at all , replace the turn signal switch. If the fuse is good for the dash, replace the dimmer switch.
If you're finding it difficult to service/repair your car, get one of those online manuals. You'll not have to wait for
others to answer, or rely on mechanics and all. Plus i know a website that sells very cheap but very very good manuals online, without expiry i.e. for lifetime. www.reliable-store.com
The only thing that both the brake lights and tail lights use is a ground connection. Keep in mind the warning light on the dash may be for any exterior lamp. You may need to check the sockets and grounds on all four corners of the car.
I'm showing a brown wire coming out of the headlight switch on 96-99 models going to the park lights. Do you have power on that circuit leaving the headlight switch ?
you have a short somewhere but where ? i would suggest you check the rear lights first including the number plate light ,something is shorting out but its finding it ? best of british with it anyway .
Sorry you are having trouble.
The normal for 7 pin conectors is
Red=Aux power
Purple= back up lights or hydraulics
Green=right stop and turn
Yellow=left stop and turn
White=ground
Blue=electric brake
Brown=side markers
The red is fused so follow this line to the source and/or the fuse
Just cause the stop and turn work don't mean the run bulbs are'nt burned out. they have their own fuse theat lights the dash the radio and the front marker lights if all of these lights are out go for the fuse the switch and the radio if its not the one that came with the truck. If only the rear lights are out and the front and the dash work the bulbs or their scockets are bad rember the tag lights are also on this wire.
disconnect marker lights from power re insert fuse if dash stays on search for trouble in marker light circuit possible bad ground or bulb short in socket if dash blows fuse than look under dash for a damaged feed line shorting or ground short
