My 06 liberty renegade smells hot and sweet inside....but there are no signs of leakage and im not losing anti freeze and my windshield passed the heater core fog test.....what could be causing the smell

Could be a leak in one of your hoses under the hood, a water pump gasket, thermostat leak or bad heater core. Check under the hood for any signs of leaks. If antifreeze drip onto a hot engine block, you’ll smell it coming in through the vents. If you don’t find any leaks, I’d consider the heater core having an issue possibly.

Using antifreeze but no sign of leakage on 2006 sienna

After it warms up check exhaust for steam. Probably head gasket leaking into the exhaust.

The resevuoir won't keep antifreeze but I can't see leakage

If there are no external leaks visible, the engine may be burning coolant out the exhaust pipe. The cause may be a leaking head or intake gasket.

Oil leakage on Mercedes Benz 5.0L engines

oil in the bell housing can be rear main seal and it can also be input shaft seal in the gear box if manual. The sump bolts on the rear main cap and will leak next to the bell housing indicating a main seal . If auto then the seal on the converter will leak and the oil will leak out of the bell housing. If you are convinced that it is a main seal then check that there is no crankcase pressure issues to make it leak. Change the engine oil and clean the area and if the oils is clean then that will indicate engine or gear box. Put a white chalk line across any oil paths and watch for it to cross the chalk and change the chalk colour.

Hi Lil Cutey, The proof that you have a leakage is the fact that you need to add coolant every day. The leakage is somewhere else in the cooling system other than the radiator. Look at the places where the radiator pipes join to the engine to see if there are any signs of leakage. There will be a powdery deposit a similar color to the coolant. If you locate the leakage you may be able to get new hose clips and attend the problem. If the leakage is not evident from there, you will need to look more deeply. Inspect the front of the engine, where the serpentine belt is fitted and look for the same marks around the water pump. If its the water pump which is leaking it will mean fairly major work. If you want to tackle it let me know and we can go through it together. but it is not simple! Now we come to the worst part. If there are no signs of leakage from the water pump, start the engine and leave it idling until it gets to operating temperature and then let it continue until you can see which part of the engine where the steam is most dense. If its from the back of the engine (the part closest to the passenger compartment, then your car may have a major problem with that cylinder head. To work on that needs a certain expertise and special tools and equipment. The cylinder head will also need to be taken to a machining company for skimming. Let me know what you would like to do.Regards John

I have antifreeze leaking from somewhere in the front. I think it could be the thermostat housing. the leak only happens when the engine is warm and it's not that much of a leak. just enough to have to...

The one definite thing you need to do is to run the engine 'till it begins to leak, turn it off and carefully examine everything and find the source. Obviously, I can't see it but the start of any repair involves identifying what needs to be replaced by looking. Antifreeze will run down to where it can drip off the car onto the ground. Make sure you find the actual source which most often is much higher up on the engine than the point where you actually see the drip. When hot, the coolant is under pressure so before attempting the actual repair wait for it to cool down or you can get burned.

I found some oil linkages around the fuel pump is that from the pump its self or gasket

Usually observing the dripped fluid on the ground as first encounter to acquire if is gasoline leak or oil leakage. A gasoline leakage should have been caused due to overpump at the gas station. Second, a leak from the engine if is antifreeze overflow because of over filling the hydrant with water causes overflow when AC is turned on for the first time. Third, the engine oil would dispense when too much was put in container. The reason is as vehicle precaustion, else the car would not start due to too much oil lubricant. Perform a vehicles fliud levels inpsection to acquire if any require refill due to the leakage. Alternatively, if any requires reducing for example, a mechanic would determine how to dispense the old fliuds in replacement of new oils. The vehicle should perform better. Usually changing fliuds causes efffecient engine performance, least heating, AC cooling capacity, and least polutant generation like air or gasoline leakages.

Engine temperature is hot. some leakage of antifreeze. power level low when this happen

Does it only leak when hot ? (Safety valve)
If so your thermostat isn't opening the coolent valve to engine & needs checking &/or replacement. Keep pets away from antifreeze they like the taste & it kills them.

Antifreeze leak in back of engine

Sounds like your right rear freeze plugs are probably leaking .. but first you need to make sure its not coming from up around the rear of the intake before pulling the transmission . this would be the best way to fix this problem .. thanks jerry holler if you need more.
