I have a 2002 mercury villager estate with the anti theft system. my mother in law who owned the mini van lost the key fob and set off the alarm later. I pulled a fuse which bypassed the alarm but it also kills all luxiary features such as power windows and power locks. im curious if theres another way to disable this system or if anyone knows where its installed. I have tryed to program a new key fob with no luck and i was told you cant do it while the system is active. i have also tryed to lock the doors with the power locks and unlock the door wait and then open the door with no avail. If anyone has an idea id greatly appriciate it
You have no choice here but to buy a KEY FOB if you want to restore function, you can get them at reasonable price on eBay

Replaced Problem Solved. What Is Happening Is Your Key Has A Chip And That Chip Is A Resister And When The Valve Is Not Sented To The Computer It Disengages the Fuel Pump And Than Tells You To Wait. Soon All That Will Happen Is You Will Get The Wait 3 Mins And It Will Never Start, A Good Locksmith Can Take Care Of This For You And That Will Save You Some Money. Cause If You Go To The Dealer Ouch They Will Hit You Up. But I Asure This Is How It Will Happen Cause It Is How It Happen To Me

Doing roadside assistance I have ran into this problem several times and if you look in your owners manual it will tell you how to reset it. Some of the cars you have to wait up to 10 min. with the key in the ignition and try again. The light will go out. READ carefully our owners manual.

With the doors shut, insert the key into the drivers door lock. Lock and unlock the door 5 times. This should reset the system. If that doesn't work you should contact a qualified repair shop.
