The brakelight fuse and the switch on the pedal is only for the brake lights. It should have no effect on the dash brake light. That light is to alert you that a problem exists in your braking system, not the brake lights. I think you will have to pull off the rear drums and investigate why they are locking up. Check for a leaking brake wheel cylinder that may have contaminated the brake shoes, causing them to grab and lock up. Are the shoes in good shape? Also, check the operation of the emergency brake. Maybe it is not releasing fully. The emergency brake can be adjusted on the cables somewhere underneath the truck, probably at the equalizer (where the cable for the emergency brake splits to both sides of the truck). The adjusting nut will have a lock nut tight against it to hold the adjustment. Loosen the lock nut, then turn the adjusting nut one way to loosen the cable, and the other way to tighten up the cable. You might want to loosen it up and see if that has any effect, and then tighten it once you have fixed the problem. The adjustment would be about right when the emergency brake handle or pedal locks up the rear brakes when it is depressed about halfway to nearly fully depressed. Hope this helps you out, and good luck.
I suspect your problem has nothing to do with the rear bearings, it sound most likely that your vacume pipe to your booster is off or maybe sucking air, near the bottle where you top up the brake fluid there is a big black/gold round thing (Booster) up against the car out of this there is a pipe usually about as thick as your thumb that goes to the intake manifold. You should be able to see where it belongs to go if it has come off.
Most likely this is due to the brake pedal sensor. It is mounted on the brake pedal arm, under the dashboard. The sensor can be adjusted. Loosen the locknut, turn the adjustment bolt, then re-tighten the locknut. Adjust it so it opens when the brake is released and closes when the brake is applied.
check the feed to your brakelight switch
using a long, long piece of #18 gauge wire connected to the + (positive) battery post/cable then to the brakelight switch press the brake pedal if the brakelights come on run a new supply wire to the brakelight switch
"it always dies if it dont drive it for 3 days or more,"
Sounds like you have a constant drain on your battery -- when engine is off the drain kills the battery. That cause is almost always very difficult to find.
" wondering if there is a specific battery I should be looking for"
In terms of the type battery, no kind is going to withstand a constant drain (if you have one) -- I'd just get whatever battery they look up at the parts store.
check if the turn signels work. check the brake petal switch underneath the brake petal-also check the operation of the emergency flashers for operation. all of these items are related.
