I was wondering if there's a way to determine if the water pump is bad or the seal just broke. I have a nissan altima 1995, there antifreeze leaking from the water pump (seal). I will be removing the water pump and changing it, if its bad anyway to tell/test if is bad. Thank you
Yes it's leaking from the gasket. any chance is just the gasket or is it the pump? thank you.Yes it's leaking from the gasket. any chance is just the gasket or is it the pump? thank you.

There's a YouTube video at the link below showing replacement of the water pump and thermostat. It's lengthy, but at 29:40 and 30:18, it shows the cover bolted to the block. It should give you a pretty good idea of the orientation of the cover and the water pump.
According to information I found elsewhere, 1993-2001 is all the same. 1999 Nissan Altima Replacing The Water Pump And Thermostat
Your water pump has a small hole on the top and the bottom of the housing right behind the belt pulley. This is known as a weep hole and is there to let you know when the front seal has gone out of the pump and it is in need of changing. You really want to get this taken care of because on your engine the ignition system is ran off of the crank pulley and is known as "Opti-Spark" when the system gets antifreeze in it it usually goes bad. The Opti-Spark distributor sits right underneath the water pump, so a leaking water pump soon will take out your distributor which is another added expense.
The power steering pump doesnt leak unless the resevoir is cracked. The hoses can be bad or the seals for the steering mechanism could be bad also. have it looked at by a pro
The battery light and brake light are on because the belt isn't turning the alternator. The house with columns means it is low on antifreeze. You need to put the belt back on an check for antifreeze leaks. I would say you waterpump likely locked up and roasted the belt and that is where the antifreeze is leaking also.
1. Will need a radiator; there is ruber seal between the plastic tank and the aluminum core, and it sounds as though the seal is bad. I've tried transmission sealers; sometimes they work for a while.
Ticking noise is probably lifters (cam is farther down in the engine). Outflow of air from oil cap is normal. JWS
