Wont start No buss on speedometer.

The dash guages speedo Tach used to jump up and fall back to zeroe when the key was turned on. this does not happen. After the key has been on a while in the Odometer it say NO BUSS. THe engine cranks but won't start. It was running pretty good I shut it off at work after work it would not start. I pluged my auto x ray scanner in and it won't work it acts like there is no vehicle pluged into it. I heard it might be the CPS so I unpluged it and the guages still don't bounce when I turn on the key. Any ideas as to what I could do or check? I have heard to check all of the grounds. I am not sure where they are? I have heard of corosion on the instrument cluster plug but would that keep it fom starting or just cause no buss and no guages on the instrument cluster? Help

Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor and turn the key on. See if the "no bus" message goes away and the gauges come back to life. If so, replace the crankshaft position sensor. On a 4.7 it is just above the starter, on a 4.0 it is on the left side of center of the bell housing. The modules all communicate on the bus and if it is down the vehicle won't start. I've seen the crank sensor short out and pull the bus down resulting in the exact condition you described.

Have you checked to see if the instrument panel has a good ground connection? Rust is NOT your friend when it comes to electrical connections!

Speedometer is at 50 MPH when stopped

Try this. Turn the key on, do not start the vehicle. Absence the needle on the speedo. It should move down and then back up. Before it moves back up turn off the key. Repeat this until the needle is at zero. Then start the vehicle. If the needle goes back to a spot other than zero, you may have to take it for a quick drive, than the speedo head is likely bad. This is a pretty common an known issue for gm's. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

I had to jump the battery on my 2001 Grand Caravan. When the engine started the speedometer stopped working. Can you help? Thanks, Bruce

Digital Odometer??
Try this procedure and let me know if this worked for you. I have done this several dozen times and it helped reset the Instrument Cluster.

1. With the Key IN the Ignition and in the OFF (not ACC, On or Start) Position
2. Push in and hold-in the Trip Odometer Reset button.
3. When "sof 4.0" appears: release the Button and WAIT.
4. There maybe some "E" Codes that may appear.
5. Continue to let the System run its course. There should be a great light show on the dash along with the Tach and Speedometer needles dancing all over the place.
6. In about 30-seconds it will complete it's Reset Cycle.

Again let me know if this helped, or if you have additional information or questions REPLY in the Comments Section of this Post.

2001 dodge caravan speedometer

it must have taken an over 12 volt hit,you will need to remove the dash assembly, the needle will move with gravity when not powered, have the dash assembly in your hands and facing you, then flip it over so the needle starts to fall then turn the dash to keep the needle going to zero.then reinstall.
Or if you plan on keeping this van for ever,
you can drill a small hole in plastic cover of dash and insert a small wire to guide the pin back to zero.

Chevy cavalier 2005 speedometer stuck not working

That Cluster will work But, You will have to get an Installation kit if you want the Tach to work. Everything else will hook up the Same. You have a Distribution Box (Fuse Box) Under the Hood on the Drivers Side, There is a Fuse in it for the Speedo. Inside the Cover to the Box is the Fuse Diagram or in the Back of the Owners Manual.
