Check for fault codes first...then check all potential problems below:
Change all plugs and coils, it's a 2000..18 years old..
Clean MAF, IAC valve, trottle body including butterfly and surroundings..
Check for vacuum leaks and pcv valve cracks, replace
Check torque converter... refresh trans fluid..
Note: all coil packs should be changed together. Also verify the catalytic converter is not clogged because of incorrect spark...Hope this helps...cheers
Since scanner said Misfire #5, then start there:
Pull spark plug and review for damage, worn electrodes. Replace as required.
If it has been a while, then replace all the plugs.
Do that first, then report back your findings.

Check your gas cap. If someplace can test it you might luck out. This website advertises manuals and info online. The evaporator cannister is suppose to purify excess fuel vapors. But a system which is not sealed will code an error lamp.
SOURCE: 94 Lincoln TC engine stalls when slowing/stopping
Most common cause of stalling for Lincolns in that era is the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). It regulates fuel mixture, idle speed etc. A bad TPS will usually act up in one of two ways:
As far as valve cover oil leak, it's a problem that should be addressed to keep oil from fouling your spark plugs but highly unlikely to be the cause of your stalling problem. Hope this answers your question. All the best.
