After running the vehicle and i let it sit overnight the next morning its hard to start and acts like it lost fuel prime

The only things that would affect starting a diesel motor are cylinder compression or injectors. If you are only having problems when starting the vehicle when it has been sitting for a long time, then the issue is not compression. The injectors are most likely leaking down overnight and allowing fuel into the cylinder or they are losing prime back to the pump and it takes a minute for the pressure to build up while trying to start.

by primed are you supplying a fuel source if so then the car is not getting fuel to burn. this indicates your fuel pump is bad and needs replacing and change the fuel filter also. the reason the pump won`t work sitting overnight is that the pump can`t build up enough pressure possibly because the fuel pressure is not being held, but after the first start up the system can maintain enough pressure to start through out the day. you can have the fuel pressure and volume checked with a gage when the problem occours to verify.

Have your battery load tested at auto parts store. Do it while still in the car. They can also check your alternator at the same time. It sounds like you either have a short that is draining the battery as it sits overnight or as your vehicle runs the battery has enough charge to run but not enough charge to last it UNTILL the next morning.

Usually the sign of a bad fuel pump check valve that allows fuel pressure to bleed off over night. Try this in the morning. Turn the key to ON for 2-secs, then OFF. Repeat 3 times. Then try to start. If it starts right up, you need a new fuel pump. By turning the key on and off you're filling the fuel lines and building pressure that you lost overnight.

Fuel filter or maybe bad gas

if it contines to run fine dont mess with however if it starts acting out again sound like possibly loss of fuel pressure have it check next with gauge on fuel system allow it to sit overnight and see what gauge reads in am BEFORE trying to start engine let me know if you need help

Spray some gum out in air flow sensor and see if it starts up.
If it does you need a new fuel pump. To confirm look for schrater valve on fuel rail, put a rag around it and wear eye protection. Push valve and see if fuel shots out while the vehicle IS NOT RUNNING. I fuel does not shoot out you have no residual pressure and need a new pump.
The other thing is to place key in ignition and put it to on position you shoulsd hear a buzzing sound from pump.

here are some signs of a bad fuel pressure regulator: the vehicle runs rough, the engine will not start(usually in morning) MANY TIMES ENGINE STARTS BUT STALLS SHORTLY AFTER STARTING. a bad regulator can result in fouled spark plus, and fuel milage will decrease noticeably. the only cure is to replace regulator. what makes it fail usually it gets a tear in the diafram and it cant maintain fuel pressure. hope this helps toolman,

May have a fuel pump going bad or a fuel filter clogged. When the fuel pumps go bad they tend to not hold fuel in the line and it leaks back to the tank. That could be causing your hard start sometimes and not others.

i had similar problem. hard to start in morning but once started, would start everytime until next morning. i changed fuel pump, filter, fuel pressure regulator, coil, cap, rotor, pickup coil, battery. i was finally told the '96 had a recall on the fuel injection assemby. i changed that out with the new mpf system and it solved the problem. runs like a striped ape. hope this helps.
