SOURCE: Crazy BMW problem!! Please Help

unhook your car battery for about a half hour. hook it back up and see if the lights are off now. all the codes should reset, drive the car over to autozone and have them test the charging system to see that it is operating correctly. also if your radio is of the anti-theft variety make sure you know the code to activate it and how to enter it.

SOURCE: Which ATF fluid for BMW 2001 330Ci power steering?

Dexron III ATF is what BMW called for in the power steering pump in these models. However, GM no longer makes a type-III ATF!

Nice thing about GM Dexron specifications is that any higher numbered fluid meets the requirements of previous, lower numbered fluids. What does this mean? Siphon out as much as the old junk as you can. Refill with Dexron III and if you cannot find that? A common on the shelf *upgraded* synthetic fluid can be found in Dexron VI that more than adequately surpasses previous Dex-III specifications. So use with confidence! Pour and forget...

Manual transmission out of a BMW 330CI

Lots of vehicles have the same situation and there is a special tool made to reach the top bolt(s) on each model. On some vehicles you can cut a hole in the fender well or remove the rubber splash guard in order to see & reach the bolt(s). I have placed a mirror above the bellhousing so I could see to reach the bolt (s) from below. It's usually a pain in the @ss and lots of mechanice don't replace the top bolt when they reinstall the transmission.
