Charge the battery start the engine and confirm that the voltage at the battery is about 14 volts with engine running . If not it is likely the alternator is bad or the electrical connections from the alternator to the battery are defective.

A significant drain from the battery can be determined by observing the battery voltage after stopping the engine.

If it is under 12 and continues to drop trouble shoot for battery drain. If you suspect the radio pull the fuse and observe.

SOURCE: kia rio 02 died while driving down highway

The battery is only use to start the car, once the car is moving the alternator takes over and charges the battery. I sounds like the alternator is bad. You take the alternator to Napa, Auto Zone or Advance auto part and have them check it for you.

2007 kia rio windshield wipers automatically switch on and off how would I fix it

as the washer fluid bottle was damaged there is a possability that the washer pump has been damaged and is shorting out and sending the signal to wipers that the washer pump is being operated so the wipers will wipe, hope that make sense , one way to test this is to unplug the electrical connector from the washer pump, keep me posted as i am intrigued by this sort of problem, as have to think outside the box a bit

Remove alternator on kia rio 2002

its not easy i wont lie to u i have a 2002 kia rio and ive removed the alternator 6 times the real trick is to take ur front passenger tire off and jack the car up high enough to have some wiggle room underneath. when u disconnect everything, youll want to face the alternator pretty much upside down and u just have to wiggle it out past your drive shaft and control arm

2002 kia rio stalls when coming to a stop if the gas is not applied

My personnel fix for this.

Here are some of the causes of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Passenger windshield wiper does not wipe drivers side ok

Remove the wiper arms and then remove the cowl and you should be able to see the linkages then.

2006 kia sorento windshield wiper hang up

When you put the wipers on, you positioned them incorrectly so now they go where they shouldn't.
To fix this you need to first make note of which one goes over the other and keep them that way.

Next, put a piece of tape on the windshield where you think they normally go and use that as your target when reinstalling them. Your tape target will probably be 6 -8 inches above the base of the windshield. The wipers should be almost level when at rest.

You'll have to position them with the wiper motor off and in the 'park' position, which means that you turn them on, then turn them off (not with the key) and let them go down to the bottom of the windshield. At that point, you can begin repositioning them.

Good luck!

Most likely right.... if the alternator quits you can often run off the battery but once you start accessories like wipers . heater etc it will not last long
