With the car running check the voltage at the battery terminal with a voltmeter set to dc volts. It should read at least 13.4 volts, most are in the 14.2 to 14.6 volt range. If it is lower check the connections to the alternator. Sounds like the alternator is bad.
Most likely alternator not charging.
