One of the two wires for the seat belt safty got cut, so now the light is on and chime sounds. what can I do about this?

disconnect that sucker from under the seat. Look under the seat ( move it all the way forward it will easier) find the seat belt buckle there will be a wire coming off it. follow the wire to the connection then disconnect it. no more chime. or light on the dash either

Yes, the same way I did. Locate the wire in the buckle that sends the signal and unhook it. My jetta did the same thing. A friend that had a similar problem with his chevy found the wire was one piece with no connections, he found the little speaker for the chime and cut the wire. Why would you want to disable it?

It is chiming with the seat belt in operation then have it checked out. I you do not wish to wear the seat belt just do it up and sit on it Why anybody would want to turn of a safety alarm is a bit beyond comprehension.

On the side of the receptacle (where you would slide the buckle into) are two non-tamper torx screws.Remove the screws using a hollow T10 bit.Carefully remove the plastic side cover. It contains a spring loaded slide switch.Remove the small spring and slide the switch down to its lowermost position.You can double check by watching the seat belt light on the dash go out.Replace the plastic cover and screws.Store the small spring for use in the future. This way the system thinks the buckle is always in so the light and chime won't alert at all.

are you sure it had one?
yes, then the chimmer module is bad, or the wire to it is cut.
does it chim for other things, like seat belts. that be a big clue.

there are 2 ways.
ask your dealer. (if programmable)
or cut the chime wires.
answer assumes you read the operators guide and it didnt cover this.
the problem. with most cars cutting the wire, kills them all
even the illegal ones to cut (here) like seat belts. etc.

sounds like a bad wire or sensor in one of the seats or connections. Check grounds and broken wires. Check inside connectors for blockage of some type.

The belt buckle sensor might be unplugged under the seat. Or the wiring or switch it self may be broken.

There is a switch in the seat belt latch whe your sitting in the seat this will ba the part o the right side, see if something went into the latch part? or the switch is bad i think you have to replace the belt to fix the switch
