You can use a pry bar or a very large screw driver( 14+inches).put a piece of card board on the prying tip to protect the paint.Pry the top right corner tip of the driverside door enough to slip a 2 1/2 foot wire coat hanger through the opening hitting the door unlock switch. You may have to repeat a couple times bending the hangar to suit your aim.The door is flexable so you wont break it.
sounds like the lower latch has a broken piece of plastic jamming the movement. in these honda used a plastic case to house the internals for the latch and they tend to wear down... there should be up to three rods connected to the latch.
try lubing up the lock and manually moving the rods to get it to trip.
Notes.
the inside edges of the door panel are sharp, you may cut yourself while performing this repair.
when mine went i ended up prying the latch with a small pry bar from inside the door panel...
after drilling the retaining screws out.
it took some time and effort but the latch finally opened.
under the carpet installed on the tailgate door, there is a hole. put a screw driver in it and manually flip the latch open, to start.
yjen take the door panel off, one screw with the interiro handle, and pull the rest off,
watch the auto release slidw side to side, you will find a broken piece here, I made an extension piece with a plastic hook and screw, works fine for over a year, lube all latch parts with wd 30 once opened.
There are plastic clips that hold the rods in place - one for the rod that goes to the exterior handle and another that goes to the exterior lock. You need to snap the plastic clips around so they release and then the rods will pull right out.
Take a small pry-bar or screwdriver and pry down on the latch on the side of the door and pull up on the door handle at the same time. this will unlock the door so it can now go over the striking pin.
