SOURCE: transmission won't shift to 2nd and 3rd gears goes from 1st to 4th.

Doesn't sound like a simple fix. I would suggest having it serviced.

Do yourself a favor & get it scanned at transmission shop, or dealer & fixed as needed,(within reason) . Delaying it could cost lots of money. A rebuilt is about $1500-$2000.

2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. It moves when in reverse and low gear. But when it's in drive it just revs up but doesn't move. However, I'm not getting any transmission codes.

Thanks for the information about checking transmission fluid. Unfortunately we don't get Notifications when they are made up there.

I was hoping that @Jeff Armer would take the question. He is a full time auto electronics tech and just the person you need. I am guessing he didn't get a notification either.

The image is difficult to read even zooming in on my computer, but you have multiple communications and voltage errors and guessing the problem one is to the Body Control Module, but you have multiple errors. That means when the computers tell the transmission solenoids to move it doesn't happen. An auto electrician with a professional grade bi-directional scan tool computer can command transmission solenoids to operate and verify that they did. That would be the starting point. This is not something you can fix yourself and Jeff seldom says 'take it to a transmission shop', note that this is not a normal garage, but a place that only does transmissions.

2007 ford edge AWD auto driving at slow speedS and the RPM GOES TOO HIGH.

FORGOT TO SCAN THE PCM I SEE.
check all fuses.?
not told
fails hot and cold engine or both
car must be in transmission DRIVE selected? right?
and foot off gas pedal (accelerator)_ rpm goes to 2000 or up to 6000 rpm . and or
so driving foot off the pedal and RPM goes too high
or in drive, I step on the throttle (gas) and RPM shoots way high
and Never leaves 1st gear. that is transmission failures.
in DRIVE.
if rpm also goes that high right foot doing nothing and in park
that is engine idle control's failing.
we can not see you drive or how. so answers can be a tad hard.
in what gear? PRNDL (choices)
right foot doing what?
and what SPEED is too slow 20 or 85mph? or?
does tranny fail to upshift?

1992 Geo Storm automatic wont shift past 1st and has no reverse. Tranny fluid smells normal and is normal color it should be. Fuses look fine, what could be wrong? 3 speed automatic for details

there are 2 tranny types used in this era.

real 3speed hyrdamatic, and 4 speeds with electronic TCm control box

to diagnose any tranny ,one must know what is there.

the storm is really Isuzu impulse.

the 2 choices day 1, was

  • 3-speed Jatco F3A automatic

  • 4-speed Jatco F403E automatic

so what is a F3A;

here is the guts

http://www.shinseiauto.com/japanese/transtar/atmazdaf3a04.pdf

ever change part id 26 this decade? the Filter,..... called proper service.?

as you can see it\'s a real hydramatic, no TCM brain

as such , diagnosis is old school.

stuck in 1st.

so in the FSM book , the first test

is to do the stall test. (google that)

if that fails do the transmission line pressure test. (test ports)

the stall test, will be like 1500 rpm (no i didnt look yours up)

but of like very low, the engine is weak

if the rpm goes real high that it slip. and is end of road.

ok stall passes.

the next part to fix is the governor.

this device, causes the gear change, it its dead.

the car will stick in 1st.

the GOV connects to the tail shaft.

before the GOV , i change out the Vacuum modulator #30

this mod UNIT, can leak in side and cause no up shifts.

if it vacuum nipple here, leaks ATF , the MOD is bad,

i just replace them on suspicion,.

the GOV on this car has a nice cover #4. that can come off

one car , did this, the GOV had plastic gear, and was shattered.

that is about it, on the easy fixes on car .

Now i dont know a lot about automatics especially modern ones with all this fancy electronics thats used nowdays but i think its a fault with the temperature sensor for the gearbox. But where its located and what it looks like i have no idea it could even be mounted inside the gearbox .Sorry not a very good answer from a mechanic but?? very few of our europeon cars come with auto transmission .Evan when i do know whats wrong i cannot buy the parts for the gearbox as only re-con boxes supplied by the dealer so best advice is to try a specialist in auto box repairs only .PS some of my best students when i used to teach mechanics many moons ago were the girls so no excuses like iam only a girl please

DEFINITE LURCH IN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR,

This may apply. ...............................

Carry out the adaptation drive cycle road test:

Note: This process must be carried out in normal mode (not sports mode). On a flat road, the transmission fluid temperature must be above 60° C (140° f) and below 100° C (212° f) (vehicle at normal operating temperature will ensure that the transmission fluid temperature is above 60° C (140° f)).
9. Accelerate from rest with light throttle (do not exceed the upper rev limit in appendix 1). 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 shifts must occur with engine speed between the following limits:.
Note: Do not move the accelerator pedal during shifts.

• 3.0L VIN ALL 1800 - 2000 rpm
• 4.2L N/A Prior VIN M96321 1450 - 1600 rpm
• 4.2L N/A From VIN M963221550 - 1700 rpm

10. Continue to accelerate gently to 50 mph (80 km/h) so that transmission shifts into 5th gear.
11. Go into overrun and let the transmission shift down into 4th gear without braking.
12. Brake gently to a standstill and hold footbrake on for at least 15 seconds.
13. This process should be carried out at least five times.

Volvo s80 t6 shifting problem

The cheap fix: Speed sensor connected to the Transmission Control Module (TCM). That screws up the engine control module and could throw you into limp home mode. Expensive fix: Transmission control module. Start with the speed sensor. Suggest that to your mechanic and get a second opinion before changing out the TCM. It's a simple plug and swap, but the module is expensive. I bought a spare on Ebay for my Volvo for $10. The TCU, I believe, lives under the right front kick panel, at least that's where it is on my 740.
