Sportage won't run

2002 sportage acts like its not getting gas. Spits and sputters then dies. very hard to start again. Only way to keep it running in neutral is to run it at high revolutions. had a friend put it on a machine and found a vacum line off. didnt fix the problem

look at vent end of evap possible clogged --fuel pump and filter -check cat converter for clogging

check you have good earthing points, also check the earthing strap from engine to shell. main earthing point follow the negative lead it will go to the shell.

i have a 2000 sportage and every time mine doesn't start it acts like it may be the spark plugs or something to do with the fuel pump but it is always the starter. I have had it for 7 years and have had to replace the starter 4 times.

The hold light is on because the button on the left side of the gear selector is depressed. this causes the car to start off in second and doesnt go past third. This information is in your owners maual.
