If you're finding it difficult to service/repair your
car, get one of those online manuals. You'll not have to wait for others to answer, or rely on mechanics and all. Plus i know a website that has very good manuals online, without expiry i.e. for lifetime. www.reliable-store.com

SOURCE: Installing an aftermarket stereo in 1996 explorer...sound issues.

You may have a factory amplifier in the rear of the explorer in the right cargo panel. You need to supply power to it by connecting the amp power on (Blue/White I think) in the dash to a power source (such as red on your stereo harness) so it comes on with the key. If you do have the amplifier, that's why you have no sound.

SOURCE: want to replace stereo in 2002 tbird, how do i

The stereo in Ford products comes out with a special tool, Which you can find at a place that sells car radios. Remember that Ford used a Premium JBL/Philco stereo in your car at the factory.
Connecting subwoofers and power amps means going to the main fuse box under the hood rather than the smaller one in the cabin. You may actually wind up running a power feed directly from the battery. I would then buy one of the harness adapters from a stereo shop to match the new radio and equipment into my system. They come with instructions so that you so not have to butcher your wiring harness to install a new radio and speakers.
Comment: Over the years, I have seen some very nice cars depreciated in value when the owners cut into the harnesses to install sound ewquipment and made a mess of it. Use caution.

what you need is to go on line " crutchfield " .com , they have wire diagrams for all vehicles, and aftermarket stereos , you need to know how to use your existing stereo wires to connect your aftermarket stereo wires to these wires ! crutchfield can show you how to decifer the color codes so you can connect these wires ! its very easy, just buy somthing from them , like the connectors you'll need to do this, get it. good luck

Radio on but no sound after installing after market subs

to create a spark you must have had power connected somewhere. Did you have your radio turned on when you connected? if yes you may have blown the amp in the radio. If no then you have other issues with wiring and possible damage.
It's one of those instances where I'd need to be there to diagnose it.
Start by double checking the stereo is working, check its wiring is correct try each speaker connection in turn. If the stereo works and all the outputs work then double check the amps wiring and try a normal speaker connected to it. You must get the picture by now, you need to identify the source of the fault. to help you better I'd need a wiring diagram.

Im in great need for the color coded wires for the factory stereo, I just bought the car and the person who had it before me, ripped out the stereo and cut off the wiring harness before the bank...

ok there should be 8 speaker wires, red wire +, a yellow wire acc(i think its called) and a black wire -, the after market stereo will come with a harness and it will be labled to make it easy, with car speakers it dosent watter what why you put the wires on the same speaker as they are both positives, if there are any left over on your stock loom I would not worry thats all you need. Just ask me if you need any more help
