The engine is running about 3500 RPM

I removed the intake to replace spark plugs and valve cover gaskets. The van was running OK before I started work. After reassembling when I start the van the RPM goes to about 4000 and than comes back down to about 3500 RPM. I have check for air leaks. I believe that I reinstalled all of the lines correctly but now am unsure. I check all of the connections I disconnected and all locks which I did hear. Suggestions?

SOURCE: 1999 Chrysler Sebring Coupe 2.5 oil in spark plug

It is possible the tubes are leaking at the bottom but highly unlikely. There is next to 0 oil pressure in that area so the tubes would actually drain if leaking. I would start with the tube seals and gaskets as you have already planned and check it again later down the road like at the next oil change interval. You're on the right track for the repair, just be patient with the intake plenum and you'll do fine.

SOURCE: I need to replace the spark plugs on a 2005

you need to remove the intake to replace the front plugs
it's equipted with coil packs so you don't have to replace wires and cap
most of the time you don't need to replace gasket but you can get one just in case.
make sure you put the plugs that the manufacture recomended

SHO. What will I have to remove to replace spark plugs and valve cover gaskets?

If it is a 6 cylinder engine you will probably need to remove the intake manifold to replace the rear valve cover gasket. If that's the case the intake manifold also has two hidden screws in the rear against the firewall as well as an EGR exhaust line that must be removed before the intake manifold will come off. I highly recommend you buy a haynes repair manual for your make/model and a flexible mirror-on-a-stick to use for dis-assembly. The spark plugs can be removed after the valve covers are removed (if the valve cover is leaking you will likely have oil pooled around the plugs anyway).

2001 mitsubishi montero limited light on service engine soon 110000 milege burning smell from engine oil ok transmission oil ok coolant ok

look hard around your valve cover or your spark plugs holes especially #3 and #5. i found mine on 3 and 5 spark plugs. oil sometimes drip down to hot eng and smell like burn oil. possibility your valve cover that seal your spark plug hole is worn out and leak around the valve cover and straight down to hot area. replacing valve cover gasket is not easy and if you take it shop will cost you over $1000.00 because of intake manifold and a lots of hardwares to remove. shop around before you take it to the shop. if you do it your self with a friend make sure you take picture for every lines ,bolts sensor plugs and so on you remove. also may as well tune up or change your spark plugs. good luck

Changing pvc valve

1995 Geo Truck Tracker 4WD 1.6L TBI SOHC 4cyl
The PCV Valve is located under hood, center, upper engine area, top of engine, mounted in passenger side of intake manifold.

The low gas mileage and the versatility that your 1995 through 1999 Geo Tracker offers are two benefits of owning it. The maintenance needs to be kept up on your Geo Tracker. One form of this maintenance is to replace the valve cover gasket once you have driven 100,000 miles or more.
  1. Allow your engine to cool. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the air inlet hose and air intake case or air cleaner housing. Detach the PCV valve hose from the PCV valve. Separate and remove the spark plug wires and the accelerator cable from their clips.
  2. Loosen and remove the valve cover bolts. Lift the cover up and off. Using a flathead screwdriver, gently nudge the gasket out of the gasket seating area. Using automotive engine cleaner and a clean cloth rag, clean the gasket seating area.
  3. Place the new gasket in the gasket seating area. Put the cover back into place. Put the bolts in and then using a torque wrench tighten them. Do not over tighten the bolts or the gasket will not fit correctly. Reconnect the spark plug wires and the accelerator cable in the holding clips.
  4. Reconnect the rubber hose to the PCV valve. Install the air intake case, or air cleaner housing, and the air inlet hose. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Add oil to the car and start the engine. Allow the car to run 10 to 15 minutes. This will allow the oil to lubricate the engine while it moves to the top.
I hope helps with this (remember rated this help) Good luck.

How to change out valve cover gaskets on a 1989 Lincoln Town Car

This is All you need for this Repair, ALSO Be Sure ALL GASKET SURFACES ARE VERY CLEAN. This Engine Requires MORE than MOST ALL Engines do for this Repair.

REMOVAL

  1. To remove a valve rocker arm cover from the RH cylinder head, disconnect PCV closure tube from oil fill stand pipe at rocker cover.
  2. Remove the Thermactor bypass valve and air supply hoses as necessary to provide clearance.
  3. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs using Spark Plug Wire Remover T74P-6666-A or equivalent. Do not pull on wire. Remove the wires and bracket assembly from the rocker arm cover attaching stud and position the wires out of the way. ALSO MARK THEM AS TO WHERE THEY CAME FROM !!!
  4. Remove upper intake manifold.
  5. Remove attaching bolts and remove the cover.
INSTALLATION

  1. Clean the valve rocker arm cover(s) and the cylinder head gasket surface(s). Position a new service valve rocker cover gasket.
  2. Position the cover(s) on the cylinder head(s). The cover is tightened in two steps. Tighten the bolts to 14-18 N.m (10-13 lb-ft). Two minutes later, tighten the bolts to the same specification.
  3. Install the crankcase ventilation tube in the RH cover.
  4. Install upper intake manifold.
  5. Install the spark plug wires and bracket assembly on the rocker arm cover attaching stud. Connect the spark plug wires. Install the air intake duct assembly.
  6. Install the Thermactor bypass valve and air supply hoses (if required).
