2002 mountaineer power windows quit

Where is the fuse panel and which fuse is it,i checked the owners manual it does not list a fuse for windows

  • djslagle Jun 19, 2009

ALL OF THE WINDOWS QUIT AT THE SAME TIME. NONE OF THE SWITCHE WILL WORK, CAN YOU TELL ME THE LOCATION NUMBER OF THE FUSE AND 60 AMP BREAKER,MANUAL DOEN,T LIST A POWER WINDOW FUE OR BREAKER. THANK YOU

Did all of your power windows quit? Each individual power window motor is protected by a circuit breaker, not a fuse. However there are two fuses which will cause the power windows to ALL fail. One is a large 60 amp MaxiFuse located under the hood., in the battery junction box. This fuse should have power even with the ignition off (battery hot).
The second possible fuse is a 15 amp fuse located in the Central Junction box. It controls the Accessory Delay relay, which supplies power to all the power windows. Another (unlikely) problem area would be the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) This unit completes the coil ground for the Accessory Delay relay. These don't go bad very often.

It's a 60 amp FUSE, not a breaker. It's in the fuse box found under the hood. I think it's #6
The other 15 amp fuse is located in the under dash fuse box. I think it's # 17, but I'm not positive. The owners manual will show you where the fuse boxes are located.

The two fuses mentioned above control the accessory delay relay. This relay feeds power to the power window switches.

2002 mercury mountaineer on e window not working

All the windows are on the same fuse, if the other windows are working fine, it's not a fuse issue. I susppect the motor or the window regulator.
With your ear close to the door panel, press the window switch up and down, if you hear the motor and grinding noises then the window regulator needs to be replaced, if you don't hear anything then the motor is bad OR no power is getting to the motor. either way you will have to take the door panel off and to fix.

2004 Mercury Mountaineer Power windows are not working. What could be the problem? The owners manual shows a large 30amp circuit breaker located under the hood. Could this be the problem?

they can go bad-swap it out with another that you don't need, just to try and see if it is the relay-listed are relays that might only control, for instance, the rear window defroster-generally, relays are all the same, some just get used heavily and some don't (i.e., ABS)-worth a try

Power Windows quit working on 2004 Mercury Mountaineer. Checked one fuse, and it is good. Manual shows 30 A Circuit Breaker, but not sure how to check, or if that could be problem.

fuses this size are usually under the hood on the drivers side fenderwell , black square box, possibly a hand type screw holding the cap on, not really a way to test these fuses other than to find one of a similar size in the fuse panel of a known working circuit and swap it with the power window fuse temporarily to see if they work

I looked at the owners manual for the fuse box under the hood that has the fuse for the Power Windows . According to the manual there isn't a relay in this box for the windows. Is it somewhere else ?

Check in the Power Distribution box, this is located in the engine compartment, and contains high-current fuses that protect your vehicle.

For POWER WINDOWS, check the position 4, 30AMP (Maxi Fuse) (also Power Moonroof, Power Seat).

This and other details can find in your 2000 Mcercury Mountaineer Owners Manual.

Hope this help (remember comment and rated this).

2002 mountaineer power windows don't operate

If not in fuse panel at dash, try power distribution center/box under hood, usually near battery. Your owners manual should tell you, if you have it.

2002 mercury mountaineer power windows not working will not go up

read owners manual to locate pwr window fuse.or open up box and a label diagram should be on bottom of lid or door of fuse box. locate and pull.hold up to light to check or run continuity test.
if new fuse fixes prob, it is most likely going to happen again. then you'll need to isolate window that is problem.(last one used before fuse blows)go from there. GinoR
