Might check the fuel pump relay or the ignition relay.

Fuel cuttoff switch? Look in your manual for location... Maybe down by the passenger's feet.

Hello, it is common for the ground to the fuel pump to fail on that model! the fuel pump ground is attatched to the frame near the fuel tank, remove the 10mm screw from the frame, clean frame and connector thouroughly and reinstall, good luck 2 you! marty

96 sierra 4x4 5.7, no spark, no fuel, only have .4 volts at ingition module, coil, and 10A ign fuse. Door locks don't engage when turn key,

Something wrong in the fuse box if you only have .4 volts at the fuse. Maybe a loose terminal in there.

2000 gmc sierra 1500 v8 fuel pump

I've actually had this happen to me more than once, with different pumps. Quite honestly, the first time it happened, I gave up and bought a new pump. The new pump I got was an Airtex, which out of the box, it worked whenever it wanted to, and this time, I found out why. The main electrical connector, on top of the pump, if it was "bumped" or "moved" a certain way, it would cut off all power to the pump. Weird, I know. Needless to say, that pump got returned, went with a different brand, and never had that problem again.

My 2000 chevrolet blazer just shut off while driving and u can turn the key and still hear the fuel pump engage so maybe other than a possible solonoid problem i wouldnt know other than the fuel pump or...

I had the same problem and to my understanding blazers are known for their fuel pumps going out. You might hear the fuel pump engage but that doesn't mean it is putting out enough fuel pressure to keep the engine running. Your best bet is to have it towed to a local shop and let them run a pressure test to check and see if your getting enough fuel pressure or if your a big do it yourself type you can rent a pressure tester from auto zone or your local auto parts store. If you don't want to do that you can get a fuel pump for around 3 to 4 hundred dollars and replace it and see if that cures the problem.

Hi,

Many big and small things can cause this, but i think it's something like a ecu failure, ignition failure, a short-circuit...

contact your local tecnician to point it out, or a specialist maybe, cause its too hard to just say what it can be caused by.

I hope this is useful, and greets,

Olivier.

My 99 Expedition just died while driving. After towing it home it now wont even turn over. I can jump the starter and it engages and I have power to dome light and headlights but when I turn key nothing (...

I has an 86 Mustang that did a similar thing and it turned out that the battery actually shorted out. This happens when one of the plates inside the battery brakes off and then touches another plate. When mine died it was like I turned the iginition off. It wouldn't turn over even with jumper cables.

99 gmc wont start

check electric fuel pump operation ( located in the fuel tank ). Occasionally a fuel pump will burn out when running out of fuel, due to the fact the pump runs DRY for about 30 seconds till the fuel stops flowing out of the injectors, the engine quits, simultainously losing oil pressure which FINALLY shuts off the fuel pump. Sometimes TOO LATE. Hope this helps

My trucks starts but keep quiting

I see you say that you have a new fuel filter but did you try replacing the fuel pump??? If not you can check the fuel pump simply by turning the key to the ACC position (thats as far as you can turn the key WITHOUT starting the truck) listen by where you pump the gas in and try to hear a low sounding whine if you cant hear it then it could be your fuel pump is dead and needs a new one....or it might be going dead.

Our 2002 gmc sierra 4x4 truck stopped while we were driving. Is there a fuel shut off switch somewhere that might have been engaged?

If its fuel related, it is most likely the fuel pump inside your tank. You can listen for it by having someone turn the key to on (not start) while you listen by the fuel tank. You should hear a buzzing sound for about 5 seconds. That means the pump is turning but is not really a good indication of pump pressure.
If you don't hear the pump run, I would check power to the pump first before you buy one. I think the whole tank unit is about $150.
Good luck
