I have a 2000 323i and the the doors need to be unlocked (all, not just the driver's door) for the trunk to be opened manually. Also, if you lock the glove compartment the trunk will not open. Check these first, it may be your problem.
I have a 2008 chrysler300 and i had installed a system in it and noticed that my trunk kept popping open and i doubt its the subs because i only have 1 10 inch sub and when im driving it randomly pops open and i dont know what the problem is, can anybody help with this situation?
well the trunk is electronic and seeing as the clock stopped working as well this leads me to believe that a fuse is blown. More than likely the Acc (accessory fuse) this fuse is located in 2 places.
1.) the kick panel under the driver side.. 2.) the fuse box under the hood.
Dont worry the cover of both compartments have detailed diagrams showing where each fuse is. Now all you need to do is locate that fuse and replace it. Look for trunk, acc or accessory.
An alternative if the above isnt the problem is that the trunk is controlled electronically by a device called a regulator. There must have been some sort to cause both the regulator and clock to stop working,
You can gain access to the trunk (depending on the vehicle) by dropping the backseat. Then crawling inside. Now there should be a plastic cover covering the lock of the trunk if there is remove it. now you would notice a wire cable thingy, pull it to open the trunk. Replace the regulator and your set.. ps, The regulator is the plastic gun shaped thing with the wire sticking out of it.
I work for a doctor and a patient just had this same problem. She had a extra fob in her trunk so we opened the trunk with the key and got her other fob but I am wondering why the key does not fit the lock on the driverside
the trunk release button has a little metal like a hammer that hits the trunk lock to release if bent will not open or if you disable it by pushing it down to disable trunk release button the key lock is frozen will not work even if key go's in normal. need to replace it. if u need to get in your trunk and if it is empty would be easy to do just open the middle part of the back seat panel and with a thin and sturdy stick and flash light can hit the little hammer to open it . hope it helps
try taking your possitive battery cable off touch it on negative terminal for 10 seconds and hook back up if that don't work you may have a computer issue
it wont affect the computer and the fuse box will either be under the hood or on the drivers side under the dash. there will be a panel telling u what fuse goes to what
