well your fuel pump veifies 12volts at fuel so get something that will produce 12volts and put it on your fuel pump and see what it does if it doesnt work then you have a bad fuel pump if it does id say check your relays you may have gotten a bad set
check the fuel pump fuse.. then check the fuel pump relay.. just take another relay and switch them and see if it works then.. there all the same so it doesnt matter which relay you take out.. if neither of those are bad.. you have a problem with the wiring that sends power to the fuel pump would have a short somewhere..
98 chev pickup s10 put gas in the gas tank drove it about 2days and the check engen light came on had it check mech said it was the gas cap replace the gas cap the light back on now what help
That wire is input 4S to the powertrain control module. I dont know if having it grounded all the time will affect the powertrain control computer but it doesnt seem to want to hurt the fuel pump circuitry itself from looking at the schematics. I'd try to ground it start it then make sure of course the relay opens when you shut it off then try to drive it to make sure the grounded pin on the PCM doesnt affect the transmission.
So is the pump running or not? fuse good? relay good? Fuel pressure is???you may need to have a repair shop check it, you dont want to waste anymore time and money guessing.
Hi:
You must first drain and lower the fuel tank, as your pump is mounted inside. With the fuel tank supported, undo the tank mounting straps, and the filler hose, then slowly lower it until you can disconnect the fuel lines and electrical harness. The pump assembly is now accessable. Remove and replace the assembly , then reinstall the tank .
The fuel pump relay is activated by the ECM, Check the fuel pump fuse and both ECM fuse on the fuse panel on the side of the dash.
The ignition energizes the ECM which energizes the Fuel Pump relay which powers the fuel pump.
Check the power for the fuel pump at the frame rails by the fuel tank. It's common for that area to get corroded and the wires break easy when the fuel pump has been replaced. That short section of wire harness is only $12.00 if need to be changed. If you have a few friends, you can remove the box from the frame since it's only being held by 6 blots so you don't have to drop the gas tank.
The other thing you can try to do is to run a hot wire to the pump wire harness after you disconnect it so you don't loop the electrical and see if the pump works.
Good luck and keep me posted.
