1998 nissan frontier odometer reads 999999

I have the same thing going on. All the gauges don't read correctly, then once in a while it will work until I shut the engine off. Then it goes right back to not working. I read online that other people have had the same problem. One person even suggested that the company that made the instrument cluster for the instrument pannel is out of buisness and nissan won't fix the problem. Now I am almost used to it not working. I have really come to know my nissan and drive by feel. As far as the gas issue I just guess about how many trips to and from work I can make on a tank before I fill up again. If anyone knows any more info let me know.

Gas gauge not accurate engine light on does not go over a quarter even if i full the tank

You may need a new fuel level sending unit. Check Nissan's help forum. You can get a free login and than will be able to download upto two files a day. Check their service bulletins out. They had a problem with the older Frontiers and created bulletin NTB99-064 check and see if any thing new has come about. This bulletin details fixing a ground connection under the passengerside kickpanel. Your check engine light may be something else, you might check and see if any of your local part shops do free code reads. FYI My 1998 frontier had a similar problem which I ignored until it started blowing fuel pump fuses. Turned out the fuel level sender started to short out and take the fuses.

My '98 Nissan Frontier has odometer reading of 999999, full fuel hot temp speedo up to20mph tach not right. What's wrong and best place to get parts?

The instrument cluster is messed up. Best bet is to take it out and send it to one of the several companies that repair them. The cheapest I found was www.dnaspeedometers.com. But do NOT buy one from a junk yard because it did the same thing after about a month. I was out $100. Please contact me if you need anymore info at [email protected]

Odometer reads 999999 spedometer does'nt work

since the odometer reads such a high meter rate. it should be old atleast for 3 to 4 years. you have to replace the odometer "worm ", inside (i dont know there might be a different name for that part in your country). you have to contcact a repairman and get it done.

Dash guages going crazy

Your dashboard circuit is probably burnt out. The same thing happened to me, it's like a $20 part but is about $60 with installation, check with a dealer though.
