Hi. its usually on the lighting fuse but if your other lights are fine
then i would be looking at changing the reversing switch located
around. and near the gear leaver. good luck

SOURCE: mazda 6 reverse lights

ITS POSSIBLE THAT YOUR REVERSE LIGHT SWITCH IS FAULTY BEST WAY TO FIND OUT IS TO DISCONNECT REVERSE SWITCH AT G/BOX & BRIDGE OUT CONNECTIONS WITH IGN ON & IN REVERSE LIGHTS SHOULD GO ON IF THEY DO THEN ITS YOUR SWITCH.

SOURCE: Volvo 240 reverse lights don't work

Hi Sir

Checked the switch and plug? here's how :)

Yes it is the reverse light switch which is hooked up to your gearbox which needs to be replaced. Also it could be the plug going into this switch is a bit dirty or thorn (due to engine temperature and time wear) which in that case means that it needs to be fixed before replacing the switch.

Checking its actually the swtich so you don't buy it for nothing :)

Just to make sure that the circuitry is ok. Go to the gearbox (if it is front wheel drive transverse engine you wont need to go underneath) check where the gearbox and linkages are close to the revers there should be a switch n plug hooked up to it. Unplug it put in a piece of wire to short circuit both wires. Then turn the ignnition key on and if your circuitry is fine the lights should go on :) This means that its the switch for sure :) I hope that this helped your problem :)

SOURCE: reverse lights wont work

On the side of your transmission will be a switch with several wires coming out of it. This is your reverse switch that turns on your reverse lights and most likely needs to be replaced

Reverse lights not working on 1990 Chevy 2500 , bulbs are okay, where is the fuse located / would it be the switch and if so where could I find it. Also dome light doesn't work

The problem is not the fuse most likely but the reverse light switch on the transmission. If it is an automatic the reverse light switch is part of the large switch that sits under the cable that shifts the transmission gears you select. If it is a manual it is located on the side of the case of the tranny. The interior lights are on a different fuse, do they come on at the head light dome light switch? Has the bulb been checked. I do not have the owner's manual on file due to the age of the truck, sorry.

2009 V50 back up lights are both out. What could it be? Not the fuse or bulb.

if fuse and bulbs are fine then it's your reverse switch that's not working. it is located at the transmission, change it. but before changing you should make sure that the wires are not cut or faulty.

All fuses are good - brake lights, rear running lights work fine. but the reverse lights won't come on when put into reverse. Any idea what might be going on? As far as I know the bulbs are still good...

You will need to either replace or adjust your backup switch, it is located on the transmission next to the shifter. Hope this helps, thank you for using FixYa!

My back reversing lights wont work but the bulbs and the fuse are all good?

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

If that's the case then it's definitely a reverse switch issue. If the reverse switch is faulty, the reverse light won't work even if the bulbs are fine. It is located underneath the transmission where it triggers when reverse is engaged. Have it replaced and you'll be good.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Reverse light does not work, checked bulbs and fuse and they look good, any suggestions?? 2001 ford focus sedan.. thanks

If the bulb and the fuse are good, (the fuse will affect other circuits as well, not only the reverse lights), your next stop is the reverse light switch. It is located on the gearbox and is a switch with two wires coming from it. Remove the wires and touch them together and see if the reverse light comes on with the ignition on. If they do, you need to replace the switch.

Reverse lights don't work. Replaced the bulbs and they still do not work. Brake lights and turn signals work. Whats the next thing to check? And if a fuse, which fuse on 1992 Jeep Cherokee?

Check ur CONNECTiON on the transmission reverse switch! Located on ur transmissin itself, raised or go underneath ur vehicle to check on it. Wire connection might have been pulled out by hitting something underneath! Reverse switch might not been working anymore! Taaah!

1988 pathfinder no dash lights no revers lights no tail lights no gaiges

If they all stopped working at the same time then it is probably a fuse or possibly 2. Check your fuse panels in the dash and under the hood. The dash lights and gauges should be a fuse labeled instrument cluster or guages, it is probably blown. The other fuse to look for will be the tail light fuse. This is where I would begin.

Back up light not working

hello, the back up lights are usually on the same fuse as the tail lights so if they are working it's not a fuse, if the tail lights are not working replace the tail fuse. Otherwise the problem is most the backup light switch, on the manual transmission it's a separate switch located on the transmission on an automatic it is incorporated into the neutral start switch also located on the transmission but on the shaft where the shift selector attaches.

Check the brake light switch located under the dash, and is energized by depressing the brake pedal.
