Hi maroon,

  • Get a 14mm or 9/16" socket and a long handled ratchet or breaker bar.
  • Get the belt around all the pulleys except the A/C compressor or Alternator. Double check your routing.
  • The tensioner pulley is on a spring loaded arm. Get your socket on the center nut of this pulley.
  • Slowly pull the ratchet toward the center of the engine. The pulley will pivot on the arm allowing you to get the belt on the final pulley.
  • Slowly release the tension.
  • You're done

Loosen the tensioner pulley to remove the belt. It is the one that has a long bolt running through it. Once you remove the old belt, install the new one using the appropriate diagram from the above two links. Readjust the tension using the bolt you loosened to remove the old belt.

i hope this helps

Ac compressor seized on my 2003 Toyota echo. It broke 2 serpentine belts. Can't find a bypass pulley anywhere is there another alternative I cam do to get it running til I can afford to.fox it right?

Hi,

please search for cheaper version of the parts on a website like alibaba where you can shop internationally and get the same parts for a fraction of the value. However, you might to need examine these parts properly virtually some how. You can also talk to your local mobile mechanics and they might be able to find a work around for you that is not extremely expensive.

Thank you.

Had my serpintine belt tighten due to squealing, now my car is making a grinding sound. There is now fluid leaking from my car can it be the water pump bearing anyway

It's extremely possible the squealing was the water pump all along. Your car has a belt tensioner that automatically keeps proper tension on the serpentine belt.Manually tightening the belt most likely put more strain on the bad water pump and the bad bearing you heard is well on it's way out.
