94 Camry V6 XLE; 278kmiles; Reverse only; Sudden poblem

My Camry will move when in reverse but will not move when i shift into drive. I checked the transmission fluid it has a brownish tint to it and i have not changed it since i have owned the car about 1 year and a half. Any suggestions? 1994 XLE V6. Have reverse only. Sudden problem, no slipping or other indication. 278,000 miles. well cared for, ATF changed every second oil change(3 quarts each time). ATF clean and red now. Ideas?

Most likly the trans is just plain worn out you could have it rebuilt or replace it with a used one

My reverse in my 99'toyota camry xle v6 went out but it drives in drive and shifts so what can I do besides getting another transmission to fix the problem?

I would try to drain the fluid and change the transmission screen before a major repair! It is a possibility that the transmission screen is clogging causing the gear to slip!

1993 toyota camry v6 bucking in gear

you may have a broken motor mount-start the car, hold on the brake peddle and have another person watch the motor-shift it into drive then into reverse- do this several times and see if the motor moves around alot-i e twisting -Denny

'94 V6 XLE - Started slipping in reverse. Drained fluid and refilled, which which seemed to solve for a while, but now (1000 mi) is slipping badly again. Cold fluid level is good, but looks dark. Tranny...

Yea, was thinking same thoughts, you should've changed filter when fluid replaced. I would have it powered flushed and fluid & new filter. Toyota trans are pretty tough and this SHOULD cure the problem.

Reverse doesn't work

Worn clutch plates. Reverse & first gear uses the same clutches so how is 1st gear running out as you drive off? Slips a little?
